I am new to solar but from what I read the closer the controller to battery the better the charge efficiency. Mine is about 6’ from battery and 10’ from panels.
Good stuff guys, thanks for the input. I will keep the cover on even though I was hoping to sticker the hell out of the fridge haha! Over winter I may "lab" up my garage and run some bench tests in as stable of an environment as possible. Any more input or real-world experience please post...
I got a fridge and the cover that came with it. The fridge will be stored away in galley with a 270* awning for shade so I can’t imagine the fridge actually ever seeing sunshine directly. The cover is black, reflectively lined, and about 1/4” thick. Does anyone have any first hand testing...
Fridge arrived, fit is awesome. Im a noise princess so the compressor running is a bit more noise than I was hoping for so I may be in the "fridge off at night" camp. I hooked it up to my Watt meter and with just the fridge running I was pulling a max of 37W and it averaged out around 30W while...
Bright blue sunny day today. Got out to test the 2 120w panels side by side again. Wattage was night and day different. Aims wins again. At noon central I had the panels in my backyard. An hour later I took them out front in the bed of the truck where they had a better angle at the sun...
Well the Amazon chairs went back, they were way too bulky folded down. They also have this soft fleece back which is white and will get filthy around the camp fire in no time. I ordered a pair of REI Camp Chair Xs to see how those stack up.
After testing and the inability to return some of these easily I am selling them for a loss but that’s no biggie.
1x120w Eco worthy new in box
1x120w Eco worthy used only 1 time in the field and some testing (in rain and in sun)
^these two I want to sell as a kit. Asking $300 obo
1x70w Aco...
Looking to do the northern half from Black River Falls to Apostle Islands Columbus Day weekend starting Friday night. Booked a site out there for Friday night the rest will be on the fly. Hoping to spend a good amount of time at Apostle Islands on Sunday if all works out as planned. That...
Got the fridge, looks pretty awesome and it fits perfectly although I did have to remove the handles from my Orca to get both to fit. I will be doing some power draw tests to see how it all stacks up. More soon.
Trying to determine if I need the cover or not. It is nice and reflective but the...
Got the gear! Did a quick test with 3 small 12v batteries (under 15ah) and I was not getting much wattage on either panel. The Aims was putting out higher V on each test by a good margin. I am waiting for larger 12 gauge landscape wire to arrive so I can replace my current 18# lamp cord that I...
My Aims Power panel should be here today. I can then test them both side by side apples to apples. I will have the 120w Aims foldable/portable vs the 120w Eco foldable/portable. Depending on when it arrives I may be able to get some ******** weather stats as it’s raining today. Fridge comes...
This setup sounds very similar to what I am trying to accomplish with my camper! I am going to be using 2 x 120W Aims Power (or EcoWorthy depending on which tests better) running to a Renogy 20A MPPT controller and 100Ah AMG battery! Looking forward to seeing your progress. If youre...
New gear day! Got a WaterPORT tank for the rig. For now it will be free floating between sitting on the roof of my camper at camp to hitching a ride in the bed of the truck on day trips to the woods. I’m looking forward to giving this a real world test the next 2 weekends! Camp on!
Yes it will be open when in use which is why I didnt add any ports to it. I have the same concern but I am going do go with it and see how it does. I have a temp sensor on the back of the unit in the heatsink part.
Easy answers asap is the name of the game in my (current) industry! I do appreciate all of the input, it has been extremely helpful and I am learning a lot. I am more of a monkey see monkey do type of learner than here is the steps figure it out kind. All the same in the end I suppose. I...
