Livin' Lite Quicksilver series, feedback welcome

I had a 10.0 for a couple of years. It was too wide for the places I go. Other than the width I thought it was an amazing design. For my travels storage is far more important than internal furnishings so I removed them and gained a lot of storage space. The factory mattress was a bit soft...

Truck bed trailer with cabover or popup camper

Most t truck beds have the wheels pretty close to centered fore to aft. You usually need to make a effort to load all the heavy things in the front to get enough tongue weight. I would find out the weight distribution of the type of camper you would be putting in the truck bed before...

    Trailer tires wearing uneven

Frankly I am very surprised to see that kind of wear with so little miles on the tires and so little weight on a 3500lb axle. I don't think air pressure is going to have anything to do with it. If the bearings are that loose I would have expected lots of noise and wobbling and probably a...

    Trailer tires wearing uneven

A cambered axle would wear the outside of the tire not the inside if it was lightly loaded. I would run a straight edge under the axle and check the wheel bearings. A picture of both tires would help also.

    Home made solinoid box?

I agree 100 percent. Even if you have the original solenoid pack one or more may be internally damaged from the blow that took out the enclosure. It may work fine now but I wouldn't trust it out in the middle of nowhere in bad weather conditions.

    Trailer tongue weight distribution

Ive designed and built trailers, modified them in all kinds of ways and I couldn't imagine how I could possibly tell if that draw bar is overloaded by one pound much less grossly overloaded. From looking at that picture how is it that you can make that statement? It looks like you have done...

    Trailer tongue weight distribution

There is plenty of documentation about too little tongue weight and its catastrophic effects. In my experience unless your tow vehicle is becoming overloaded there is little concern about too much tongue weight. This is my experience from hauling dozens of different trailers single and double...

    New trucks and 4low...

These modern multi speed automatic transmissions have very low 1st gear ratios which is good enough for 99 percent of the drivers out there.

    Colorado / Canyon bent frame

Why do you believe that the owner of the truck is claiming that this just happened driving down a smooth road? What kind of analysis have you done to determine that newer truck frames are weaker than those designed years ago?

    Does a 12 x 15 tent Need a Camping AC?

I wonder if spraying water on and keeping the tent moist will reduce inside temperatures without causing tropic humidity

    Group Buy: MaxTrax

I am on the fence about ordering, is there a cutoff date? Since the original count has been met will there be a bigger discount if another number is reached?

    Building custom camper jack legs

Some methods of actuation that come to mind are hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical. The strength of a threaded rod would depend on the length of it, the diameter, and how it is supported. How about a drawing and dimensions of what you want to accomplish? I am not sure how anyone can...

    Old Junk vs. New Junk?

Seems to me like you are comparing apples to oranges. I have a 04 3/4 ton suburban with the 2nd and 3rd row seats removed and rear barn doors. When it is empty I can haul 4x8 sheets. When loading gear there is easy access from the 4 rear doors to get to anything. It is much shorter than a...

    Laws Regarding Aggressive Animals

Thats not really what I am talking about, the other thread has lots of discussion about it attacking you. What if you come back to camp and he is tearing your campsite up? What if he lumbers in as you are finishing up breakfast and starts destroying your gear or your fridge freeze? What if...

    Laws Regarding Aggressive Animals

I hope to learn something about the legalities of aggressive animals at campsites. I recently read a long thread about bear attacks which turned into a discussion about what weapons to use and if bear spray or guns were more effective. If you want to post your views on those subjects please...

    LP Generator

If you want longer run time there are kits that allow you to run it off of any size boat gas tank. I cringe as to how much time that must be spent fiddling with complicated systems instead of enjoying the outdoors.

    Spade Connectors 8 gauge

I want to run some 8 gauge wire at 12 volts to minimize voltage loss. I can't seem to find standard male and female spade connectors that work for larger than 10 gauge, I am not pulling very much current so the standard connectors will work fine. I guess my alternative would be to try to open...

    WWII spen trailer

I find receiver tube hard to find locally, the last 4ft section I bought was from Etrailer. shipping was free because I had over 99 dollars on the order. Shipping a 4ft section would probably be expensive on its own.
