A Week in the Heart of the Appalachian Mountains: West Virginia & Pennsylvania

The next section of our trip, is one of my most memorable spots, of all the scenery and all the mountains and valleys we saw, this one stuck out the most to me. As we were traveling from Seneca Rocks to Spruce Knob the back way, we were driving along ridge lines and gaining elevation. We were...

I always think about my next set of tires, new sizes and especially new brands, more aggressive less aggressive. Then I always come back to the fact that my BFG ATs have done every single thing I have ever asked of them, including quiet and comfortable on many many highway miles. The grass...

Very true. Its actually bad timing for me. My spare is still unused but the set on the truck likely has another year at least on them. Would love to pick up three 235 85s on clearance

235 85 and 265 75 are the exact same height. The 265 us just an inch wider. I love the look on my near stock height Xterra. Yours has enough kuft they might look too skinny.

I'm a big fan of the BFG AT's, I have no experience with the duratracs. Sticking with the same size ?

I believe the scanguage can read trans temp. Would save installing a gauge and can be used for lots of other stuff. I don't use that feature so can't confirm

A Week in the Heart of the Appalachian Mountains: West Virginia & Pennsylvania

This was going to be an action packed day, and we were lucky that we got off to an early start. After finishing up Canaan Loop we would be travelling through the Dolly Sods Wilderness, then to Seneca Rocks, followed by Spruce knob, the highest peak in West Virginia. The Dolly sods is a very...

A Week in the Heart of the Appalachian Mountains: West Virginia & Pennsylvania

The rain had almost stopped by the time we got to the graded section, it was a nice and misty morning Nice little panoramic of the road in the fog. Note this is a 180 degree panorama shot, the road is actually straight As you are leaving there is one last little side trail that has...

A Week in the Heart of the Appalachian Mountains: West Virginia & Pennsylvania

The next morning I was up fairly early, having not slept very well wondering whether that was indeed a bear two sites over. I was thinking about rolling over for another hours sleep when I looked up through the tent and saw a nasty cloud rolling in quick. It was a beautiful night so we had not...

A Week in the Heart of the Appalachian Mountains: West Virginia & Pennsylvania

After being is such tight quarters for more than hour, it was really nice to come out onto plain with more scattered farms. It was also nice to make some miles as the sun was started to move across the sky pretty quick. Pretty soon after we moved back into the hills, with some nice views...

A Week in the Heart of the Appalachian Mountains: West Virginia & Pennsylvania

Our eventual goal for the end of the day was Black Water Falls, we would continue to work our way South towards the Monongahela National Forest as the day progressed. We would cross the Cheat River several more times that day as it also meanered southwards Nothing like feeling you are in...
