Wow, over $40k for a little Colorado? Rode in one last weekend and was not impressed. There is no room inside them. People in the back either have to be small children or midgets. Maybe a horse jockey would fit comfortably but that is pushing it. I'll buy a new F150 for that kind of money...
Thought I would post this here for people's opinions, since I can't seem to make up my mind.
I picked up some rims for cheap that are the same as the ones on my truck, with the intent of putting them on the camper. A couple reasons why:
1) having all tires match means less spare tires to...
Oh and since I decided to read the rest of the thread, for decking maybe you could use expanded metal with some 1" square tube supports. Depending on what wood you were planning on using it could be made lighter using expanded metal.
Winching it on would probably work. A couple other ideas would be jacking it up and backing the trailer under it, similar to a truck bed popup. Or, probably not as safe, but perhaps you could lift the camper up with a winch and a snatch block overhead and then back the trailer under and set it down?
That's exactly what I was going to recommend. Don't have my Xterra anymore but I had the M226 since I had a MT and was going to put an M205 in.
Still wish I had that Xterra...
This is my current project.
It is a little arm that will swing out (to the left looking at this picture). There will be a small 12v flood light attached so I can use it while cooking on the fold down table or I can swing it all the way to the left to use it to set up camp in the dark.
It's a work in progress though. Here is a list of things to do:
- 12v Setup - cabin, galley, and exterior lighting. 12v outlets for charging electronics.
- build tongue box for storage
- Add trim along roof edge. It's water proof, just going to add trim for looks to cover up the crappy cuts...
I sanded it all down, and then pulled it around the block to get all of the dust of. Here is a shot to show it's size behind my truck (an expo build in progress).
I finally had decided on a window size, so I cut out where it would go
Then I used the "poor man's fiberglass" with canvas...
Thought I might share this here to get some feedback and maybe some ideas from people. I started this about a year and a half ago, and while it is still a work in progress it is now campable. The frame is 2" square tubing, 1/8" thick. The cross members are 1"x2" that is also 1/8" thick.
It...
Got the chance to use some
