Don't skimp on tarps. The HF type are heavy, bulky and a bit of a pain to fold up. I use 12'x12' & 16'x16' Kelty tarps. Between weight saved, ease of use and small storage area needed the xtra $$ is well worth it.

You should pull your valve covers and make sure your oil return holes are not clogged before you take a long highway trip. I found this to be a common problem on higher mileage ford 302 & 351 engines that led to the failure of many engines last century while I was a mechanic.
