    2017 Taco TRDOR Overland Build

The tent stake is a great idea, although I usually need to be on the same side as the zipper pull to tuck material in. I hadn't thought about the lower height of the overhang, I not only take it for granted I can walk under, but also hang stuff from the tent overhang and we sit under there for...

    2017 Taco TRDOR Overland Build

Do you have the winter cover on your Tepui? Or is that the standard fly on the Autana Sky ... it looks different than my Kukenam. With those bed bars and short bed, can you open the front pop-out on the Tepui and clear the cab with the rods? And, is there enough gap between the bed and the tent...

Alu-Cab Has Landed In The USA!

Does Adventure Ready have any of the canopies in stock or a demo unit mounted on a truck? I'm seriously interested but would want to see and touch and make a few measurements. I think you're the closest dealer, but you're not exactly close by :) I also have a 2016 DCSB Tacoma.

New WARN Ascent Bumpers for '16-'17 Toyota Tacoma

Question for Warn: the press release says it's compatible with sensors (rear bumper). Does this include the blind spot monitors, or just the backup (parking) sensors? And by "compatible" does this mean that one just snaps the OEM sensors into the new bumper and it functions just like OEM? Thanks.

    RTT Removal/install

My RTT is a Tepui Kukenam, lighter than some but not the lightest with mattress and anti-condensation pad. It is mounted on top of my shell and won't fit in the garage to hoist off the rafters. I looked at all the threads about RTT removal, thought about making some support or tip and tilt...

    Keepin the Ol Skool Alive

My daughter is in her early 20's. She doesn't own a car, but her motorcycle was built when Richard Nixon was in the White House. Actually, since I don't know the exact build date, it may have still been LBJ. She wants to buy a car though, and I'm the one suggesting she buy a car new enough to...

    Canopy reinforcement

There's a lot of threads on using RTT's on glass canopies. It may not require as much structure as you think. Your current setup looks like it feeds all the load from the rack into the tonneau, through four small feet. If you distribute the load over a larger area, stress is reduced greatly...

    on-board air

The Viair has a pressure switch. Independent of that, it sounds like there's no real standard so a gender-mender would be handy.

    2017 LR Discovery details

I'm not a Rover guy, so I didn't pay too much attention, let alone take pictures, but I'm pretty sure I saw one parked by the side of the road in Yosemite National Park last week. It was unbadged and "disguised" with a black and white splatter paint job or wrap. Honestly, it looked just like the...

    on-board air

Following up on a question I asked a few posts back, I think I've found a good under-hood location for my new Viair ... which leads to another question. The new unit came with the male portion of the quick coupler on the compressor. My home compressor and the old ARB which died were set up...

    on-board air

I can figure out and manage voltage drop, but you've made a good point, CFM and thus the air velocity are pretty low pumping up tires, so pressure drop through the hose isn't really a big deal. Thanks. By the way, I am a huge fan of my 19.2V cordless impact. It's changed the way I work.

    on-board air

I had a smaller ARB portable which I finally installed under hood after 20 years, and hardwired (no tank). Then it died. Given it didn't really have much output I bought a new Viair rather than repair the ARB ... but somehow goofed on the dimensions and it won't fit where I had my ARB. So for now...

Is this the one? Need some vehicle advice.

Another way to look at this, is that you could buy a new SR5 DCSB 4x4 for about $30K. $8K buys a lot of mods. On the other hand, it could buy a new car warranty and get you a 3rd Gen, which is arguably better (I know there are pro's and con's, but I own a 3rd Gen and it's a darn nice truck)...

Tacomas, which model to buy to mod

New 3rd Gen 2016 and '17 TRD Sports come with 18" wheels. If you really want to add a locker later and do any serious off-road, you'll need to replace those with 17" or 16", since I believe that an off-road-worthy 18" tire (i.e. LT rated and 70-75 aspect ratio) will just be too large in diameter...

    NoahGenda's 1997 T100 SR5 overland build.

Nice rig. I sometimes miss my T100, which I replaced with a Tacoma 6 months ago. Different, not necessarily better in some ways.

Pro's and con's of mounting RTT below cab height?

Good summary - thanks. Are the drawers water and dust tight? Most drawer systems I've seen rely on a shell/topper for that function, though I guess a tonneau might work too.

Pro's and con's of mounting RTT below cab height?

^^ Thanks ... a very clever idea and execution. Not sure if there's enough room for this with a 5' bed and 4' tent, without a lot of rear overhang, but will take a look.

Tacoma Double Cab Roof Top Tent Mounting

Is the tent really more than 175 pounds? All you care about is the empty weight of the tent ... almost any cap and/or rack system that can support 175 lbs driving (aka dynamic load rating), can support the additional weight of tent occupants when parked. This topic has been covered extensively...

    2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Build

I don't own an XV and sold my Forester a few years back, but I do find a built XV very appealing. Nice job! One observation on the CVT/auto/manual trans discussion. I'd say the 5 speed MT was the weak link on my Forester XT for off-pavement use. In hindsight I wished I had gotten the auto...

Pro's and con's of mounting RTT below cab height?

Hi, OP here, thanks for all the thoughts. I'm now really leaning to mounting it lower, just need to bite the bullet to go without a shell to enable that. But that's going to have to be my own decision, no more advice needed :)
