    Emergency Room list

We thought of the same thing when we were leaving Dinosaur NM in Colorado. I just picked up a Garmin Nuvi 660 and sure enough it lists all the hospitals and ERs starting with the closest ones. Simply select the closest one and hit the GO button for directions.

    Possible Rtt Option

I used a similar set up for a while prior to getting my trailer. I really like the tent cot and still use it for those times I don't want to take the trailer out. I actually had mine bolted down on top of my pickup bed so I only had to fold it up and cover it when I broke camp. I still can't...

The error of my ways / good mpg 4x4 Motorhome-in-a-phonebooth concept

I'd have to disagree as far as the Xterra goes. At least with the 2nd generation. I have no experience with the first gen. For a single camper the Xterra is great imo. The thing I really like about it is how easy it is to convert the rear area to a fold flat sleeping platform. The rear seat...

The error of my ways / good mpg 4x4 Motorhome-in-a-phonebooth concept

I'm a real fan of the 2nd Gen Xterra. It's great to sleep in with the fold flat rear seats, has good storage space, is awesome off road, can be had with a factory rear locker, the 6M gets 21 mpg hwy, very comfy to drive and the engine is a beast. I'm 6'2" and both my wife and I sleep...

    A big thanks to AT.....

I could not agree more! When there was an issue with our trailer Mario and Simon both made separate trips out to Colorado to fix the problem. When I say thier customer service is second to none that's an under statement.

    Coleman Stove/Grill?

I picked up this Primus unit from sierratradingpost.com and love it. The burner puts out 12000 btu and the grill is 9500 btu. Stainless steel and solid rubber feet on it. So far its been great.

    tire pressure tool

Currie EZ tire deflator. You can check tire pressure and air down quickly if needed. Cost about $30 for the Currie model. ARB has what appears to be a direct copy of it as well.

    Best camping chairs under $50

I second going to REI. We have a Flagship Store here in Denver so they have a large selection. I picked up a couple of these this year and absolutely love them. The most comfortable camp chair I have ever owned. The back cushion is adjustable and it has a nice carry strap. Only $29! They...

Yeah I got my entire 5' bed sprayed for under $500. That seems outragous!

what style of tent is best for ....?

That is what I was thinking. No experience with them but from what I've read and seen online it seems like the perfect solution, not considering a RTT of course, for camping out of your truck.

Anyone own a Campa expe trailer?

As I mentioned in my post above I was really close to getting one. It is a great product and can be had for about the same price as a loaded Horizon, minus some of the options that I did not find necessary. At least when I was looking last fall/winter. For the type of camping/exploring I do...

    New AT Chaser

Congrats! I went through the same thing you are going through just this past winter when we ordered ours. I remember how excited I was. We took delivery in late Feb 08 and so far have put about 2200 miles on it. You're going to love it. This past week I took it on some nasty roads for the...

Sand Dunes NP and Humboldt Peak

Certainly do. If you plan on staying there forget the campsite inside the park. Just a short distance up Medano Road you enter the Sand Dune Preserve and there are some really nice free sites, all with a fire ring and large bear box. If you plan on hiking the dunes with a dog either do it...

Sand Dunes NP and Humboldt Peak

Sounds like the weather was very similar. We had 90's and probably 55-60 at night. We too had some issues with the flies but ended up getting a decent breeze to help keep them from getting too bad. Yeah the road seemed less sandy then last year. The creek crossings at the end of July are...

Sand Dunes NP and Humboldt Peak

We left home early Wednesday morning and arrived in the Sand Dunes N.P. around 0930. I love this place and if you have not been yet I highly recommend it. June is a better month to go, cooler temps and much more water running through Medano Creek, but June did not work for us this year. We...
