I guess this explains why there was an "incredible deal" on the equipment. I hope the OP will share his experiences. The retailer is a sponsor here, maybe we can get clarification from them.
A HD Trasharoo is just a natural "overlanding" evolution. The product works perfectly fine and is very near perfectly executed for its intended use...of course you should over build or way over build it to account for the .071 percent chance of field failure under the worst conceivable...
I'm with Corey on Railriders. I had a pair of Weatherpants for 5 or 6 years and they were outstanding. I initally bought them for a Morrocco trip. Tough as a pine knot and easy to take care of in a hotel sink (washing machine) and balcony (drier). Verrry comfortable and very durable.
I am very excited to see how the CRF250L compares to the WR250R. By all accounts Yamaha knocked the little WR out of the park. As a Honda partisan since the late 70's, I'd love them to stack up with the Yamaha, head to head. I also wish both companies great success in this market segment. I...
If this what you bought the XR-L for...you chose the wrong tool. They are nice bikes within their scope of capability but not an MX'er, nor are they able to comfortably eat up a lot of daily mileage. Overstating a bike's span of capability ultimately just brings disappointment in an otherwise...
I do not have experience with the three selections you have chosen. I am not a power user and have only unspooled my M8000 5 times is three years (six if you count cleaning the dyneema). I chose my Warn for (what in my mind is) its performance to value ratio. I strongly considered a Smitybilt...
I'm glad this thread got revived, what a great trip to review. We used to have adventures like this all the time on this forum, it was a lot fun to follow them. I miss the old days when there were more postings with these sorts of trips and build threads.
How about communication to the truck/SUV via your bluetooth enabled phone? You can equip your helmet with a Scala Rider G4. Simple enough system and offers you moto borne entertainment and voice GPS options depending on your current GPS and mp3 equipment...
WOW! I can't believe I missed this one. I guess I should drop by ExPo a little more often. Beautiful!! Nice work, I will be following this. I admire anything that employs fine craftsmanship
Credit card sized volt-ohm meter? Tell us more...
Great prep list BTW. Lots of sound concepts in play here. I am sort of leary about border crossings with heavy duty pain killers though, seems risky.
(full disclosure: I have never crossed an international border on a moto)
These are pretty good in a low draw LED. Fiddy five anda half doesn't break the bank either. They have a rectangular housing too if that is more to your taste.
