    Contactors generally have better duty cycles, weather resistance, and there's only one vs. four solenoids. Most of our winches (excluding the VR Series) now come with contactors. Solenoids are a tried-and-true technology, though. We've used them (in one shape or another) since the '50s.

    No kidding? That's pretty cool. We make a 4,000 lb. ATV winch (RT40) with wire rope and one with synthetic (XT40), too. Ditto that in 3,000 lb. capacity. . I'll be interested to see your bumper; my buddy (I think he's registered here; I sent him a link to this thread) is looking for a bumper...
