Fleetwood Neon Modified for off road

The tongue box is all aluminum, full width (I believe 59") and weighs 45lbs so pretty light. The batteries inside each weight about 79lbs x 2 and then I have various other stuff (the batteries are riding on their own frame reinforced to the chassis, of course) so total of the box and batteries...

No spare--I run the exact same wheel/hub/tire/brakes as my Defender so I just carry the Defender spare, a compressor and a repair kit. I feel confident with just that as I have been wheeling for 20 years and only had a couple flats. After several years towing the trailer, I have never had a...

    Hot water

Check out the Eccotemp L5 heater. I use that. Add a Flojet or whomever 12V water pump (check out the minimum flow requirements) and you are all set. I either plug it into my little battery pack/inverter or to my 12v trailer batteries....

I love the aethetics of the tongue gusset you did. Hell of a mounting plate--there is no kill like overkill!

Glad you are set. On the end of the bed, you will notice a black tab in the middle that hands down, about 3" wide, drops down 4" long. This cuts off the electricity to the overhead lights (it presses in a switch on the bulkhead below the bed in the middle when the bed is extended). If it...

congrats! I love mine and I think you will love yours too. Let me know if you are looking for the stabilizers--I am sure I can dig mine up as I am 99% sure I saved them. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions...

Fleetwood Neon Modified for off road

Got everything installed and welded up. Works awesome--top goes up or down in under a minute, very quietly I might add, and the limit switches function to start/stop the mechanism. I have it on a momentary switch that I mentioned above...

The actuator carriage is tacked up and test fitted to trailer. Got a reversible DTDP 25A switch on the way as well. Coming together nicely.

Fleetwood Neon Modified for off road

Had a 98% great trip to Pawnee National Grasslands, but the wiffletree raising mechanism froze when we were putting it up. There was a strong side wind as you get in those areas, and the resulting pressure on the sides of the top when raising made the screw sort of cross thread and seize...

MSRP is over $800. Guess it is out— just too many other things I need in my life more than an $830 jack (+tax...)

Fleetwood Neon Modified for off road

Now that the truck is back on the road with the LS3 engine, I replaced the electric over hydraulic brake actuator with a 1600psi version. Got everything hooked back up (rewired in the brake controller for the new engine harness) and I am back in business. Drives amazing--don't even know it is...

I am looking into some heat for the cooler months. I know Webasto/Espar/Planar make decent units and there is an (obvious) knock-off from China with pretty good pricepoint. Anyone get one of these? I know if it broke, getting parts may be hard, but we are talking 1/2 to 1/3 the price. Just...

Fleetwood Neon Modified for off road

It is just shy of 22" off the ground when loaded, so pretty good ground clearance. My tires are 33's, so the axle is really the low point at about 16". I'm not counting the springs as I just aim the tires and go over what would typically hit them--pretty good at that with the shorter tongue...

Everything has been going great but the weight sure creeps up on you when you load things up! I am upgrading the electric over hydraulic brake actuator to a 1600 psi for the season and selling off the 1200 psi version. Put it in the for sale section, here are the deets: HBA12 1200PSI...
