    My new 1993 FZJ80

Thanks, I have been a member at Mud since my FJ40.... I use it a lot more for searching... so much tech info to be mined. I am working on lots of small issues: 1. Sunroof doesn't sit right, looked at shims and that isn't it. 2. Oil Leak - degreased it, trying a snake oil, then seeing where it...

    My new 1993 FZJ80

Funny, Deb and I were just talking about that, she just assumed I would have to bring the new TOYota... It has the factory rack, so I might try that. I have been searching for some Thule gutter mounts on CL, but no luck. We are excited for the float!

Need Advice: TLC 76 vs Toyota Hilux vs TLC 80

I would say the 80 series (diesel I assume?) would be my choice, even with that mileage, buy the best one you can, have a great mechanic baseline it with all the preventative maintenance and go. For your trip, I don't think you need to drop that much money on the purchase and Carnet. Keep us...

Orlando to NYC in 5 minutes...........in my 80 Series

Very cool, I love the sunrise at 3:18.... I did the same a few years ago from Columbia SC to Rochester NY - 2 questions: 1. What radio do you have and is that TV or just movies playing? 2. Why do you keep raising the hood? Just checking the oil?

    My new 1993 FZJ80

Thanks James, yes the Kool-Aid is good ; ) Daveyboy, I agree, this is a better starting point, the '92 is a 3FE engine, that alone was a deal killer for me. I think I got a great deal at $3500, most of the ones around here are $5k-$6k and that seems to be stock or with mods.

    My new 1993 FZJ80

Yep the Taco isn't going anywhere.... this all started with a $1000 beater '94 FZJ80. It was so rough that I was needing to get a lot of parts from a wrecked truck, so I was at $2000. This one was only $3500, with lockers, and 80k less miles.

    My new 1993 FZJ80

A new horse in the stable. I posted about buying a real beat 1994 FZJ80 for $1500, but decided to pass. It drove fine, but was more "weathered" inside and out than I have time to play with. On the way home I stopped to look at another (really not on the way, more out of the way, but is OK) and...

Taco brakes, trailer brakes and FZJ80 questions...

More on the 80 series, it sounds like I need a passenger front fender too.... has anyone tried switching a 91 onto a 94. So the question is will 1991 fenders and seats fit without modification into a 1994? I searched ih8mud, but I am not finding much help. Before I post the question there, I...

Taco brakes, trailer brakes and FZJ80 questions...

Another LC80 question and an update. Can anyone confirm if the seats from a 1991 FJ80 fit using the same mounting holes in a 1994 FZJ80? I am picking up my LC this weekend and can drive 4 hours out of my way and get replacement seats. I am told the ones in my LC are trashed... Update, On the...

    Yugo to Argentina

Cool! I always liked these cars. I worked at a dealer in college that sold Yugos, they had a drawing for everyone buying a Ford, Isuzu or Subaru (the makes they also sold) could win a free Yugo. No one who name was drawn would accept the car.... I tried to get one winner to accept and I would...

    Lexus LX470 Rear Cabin Conversion...

Mike, Thanks for sharing another great build. Like others I have a question - what do you use for a sleeping pad? I have a great 3 inch foam pad, but the storage is tough (it's too big) TIA

Has anybody used a Kelty Car Port Deluxe?

I just got mine, I use it at bike races for shade and rain protection. I can set mine up alone in less than 10 minutes. I even use it as a stand alone, just put the poles at the end that attaches to the truck rack. I got mine used, and even without directions was able to put it together...

What brand of roof cargo basket do you recommend ?

That one looks very similar to the Coleman rack I have. I don't carry heavy loads on my roof but it has been great for firewood, wet stuff after a beach trip, carrying two kayaks, etc. I just couldn't justify a high dollar rack for what little I use it for.

what would u do if u were in my situation

all you can do is offer.... I also agree with her and hope my wife wouldn't get in a strangers truck just because she was uncomfortable. In the end that is all the family was - uncomfortable - their life was in danger - other than being on the side of the road. I will stop for a woman with kids...
