It's a Plasma table. ArcLight Dynamics 4x8 with a Hypertherm 65. Its a work horse and makes quickly fabricating quality stuff possible (and very fun!). It takes up significant real estate in the 2 car garage that we work out of, but totally worth it. Organization is the key!
We have a diesel furnace for air and a hydronic/electronic marine water heater for hot water.
The bench is a great idea and will likely be implemented! Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you! I have fallen out of our past campers a few times trying to hop in without the stairs (in too much of a hurry to be bothered to deploy them, I need to be reminded to SLOW DOWN). I think the flip down single step is going to be super handy.
The slide out landing is a bit...
Thank you all for the compliments and for following the build! We are having a ton of fun sharing it with others!
After a few close calls with a rickety step stool it was clear that we needed a better way to get in and out of the camper before we could keep working on the interior. Here's what...
Check out my previous post for how the interior panels are bonded. We are making aluminum trim and gluing/riveting it to the plywood to bond the panels.
I'm sure the rivets did pull the skin away from the foam in some spots but there was no other way to assemble it (that I could figure out at...
Near the bottom corner it was possible to *carefully* sneak it in.
Hey you asked for it!
Your series was a major source of inspiration both to do the project in the first place, and to document it on YouTube. Its fun to be a member of this great community!
We installed some porch lights, and for some reason I thought they should go about half way down the wall. Right at eye level. They are blinding and this will need to be changed.
We've been working on getting everything done inside that needs to get done before we can add the interior...
We were able to get the truck done enough to drive it to our family Thanksgiving gathering. What a rewarding moment! On our way out of town we got the truck weighed again, 8180#. The weight without the bed was 7220#. The new weight included the rear bumper, shower pan and some misc tools that I...
I agree that I didn't do a great job of explaining that part. It's pretty difficult to see since it's buried inside the frame. Basically, there is a 3/8"x4" piece of bar stock welded in between two of the rear cross members and the main rail on the sub frame to bolt to. The springs fit inside...
We both easily fit through it! It is intended to be used daily by the dogs and us in an emergency situation. By not cutting into the back wall of the truck we are able to fit our water tank in the bench below the window.
The progress has been a little monotonous lately as we've been getting all the panels cut to size, wrapped, and installed. But, we did make progress on something else that's worth sharing.
The panel on the bottom of the bed area was made a little differently.
We laminated two 1x.125 square...
Thank you everyone for the compliments, we really appreciate them! We are pleased with how things are going together. It's one thing to stare at it on the computer but doing it in real life is another animal. Glad it's (mostly) working out as planned.
We're using 4941. 4991 was heavily...
We left the aluminum long on the upper panel but we did not leave it short on the lower panel. The aluminum layers overlap at that joint to ensure it is water tight. They are VHB taped and glued with Sika 252.
Update!
We painted the structure. We started with sanding/scuffing the entire surface, followed by a wipe down with acetone. Then we primed using Rustoleum Self Etching Primer in a rattle can. The top coat is Rustoleum Semi Gloss Black from the quart can with enamel hardener from Tractor Supply...
