Happy kicking! Be sure to wear a good boot that protects the back of your leg for when the kick starter fly's up and smacks your leg. My XR400R is kick start only.. Also, not sure if it's the same on your 650, but I never stand on the bike with the side stand down when kicking it over because...
Nice! Hard to get R model with a street plate in California..
It's a lot different than your street bike because it's a true dirt bike. Even compared to a KLR650 I thought it was a lot different when I rode my friends in Baja.
Looking forward to your build up. Enjoy!
Well at least it was just "things" he lost..
The big lesson? Don't use Bungee's! I haven't used them for years. Plus, they are really dangerous! A personal friend of mine lost an hey using one to attach his bag onto his VFR several years ago.
I also like to safety any gear that's strapped...
I might get one of these Ultimage MX haulers.. I borrowed this one and it did quite well for a few hundred miles of pavement, and about 20 miles on bumpy dirt roads with my XR400R on it.
I know... I love my MT21's... It's been my "go-to" tire for years on the front of the KLR... I just used a rear in Baja for the first time in January and it was great too...
Aren't they all an everlasting evolution?
I have an 07 DL650 that I recently acquired, and I thought about getting lowered foot pegs, but on my KLR the brackets hung down below the frame so I removed them in fear of smacking them on rock or something. Do you see this being an issue for the Strom?
Just bought this nice little gem. It's plated in CA!
2002 Honda XR400R
I'm going to use it for local ADV rides, and built it up a bit for Baja. After taking my KLR to Baja I decided I need a small dirty bike so this is it. One of my friends had one in Baja and he was always in the lead...
This tread should be a STICKY -

Transfer case?
I had a whine coming from the same area.. It's been a while so I don't remember the exact sound, but sort of similar to your video. I had a FJ62 so it was automatic trans, and I'm not sure our transfer cases are the same between the 60 and the 62's.
Might be worth checking out...
I got some of the stuff for pets for my recent ride down to Baja and gave it the "lick test" Oh man does it taste nasty!
Thanks for the tip on the pet product though.. It was a lot less in price..
