Tearing into the heavy half semi float 14 bolt (9.5”) pulled all the drum brake parts off. The 10 bolt backing plate bolts up to the SF14 bolt. The 10 bolt rotors seat all the way on the heavy half axle shafts. Sat the caliper and bracket on the rotor and measured, the backing plate mounts are...
It is mostly flat country down here so towing with my 1500 is no problem but there is no way I’d push my 4l60 towing in the mountains. The 2500 burbs are a good choice but they are impossible to find down here, different areas vary though
It’s 4.10s. I’ll swap the gears into the other axle housing. its 3" narrower than the 10 bolt under mine and 6" narrower than the width of the Dana 44 with gmt800 unit bearings.
07+ subs, avy, and tahoe with tha axn axle code. But they are 4x the cost for an older 9.5. For my setup I will have to modify the mounts some anyway why not start with a cheaper axle. Hummer H2 9.5” axle is also a drop in if you can find one but you wold need to get axle shafts and brakes...
So while sulking in my costly mistake I decided to finish the table portion of my fold out sleeping platform. Working on finishing the sleeping platform in the back of the burb. It mounts to the drawers I built in the back and folds up accordion style. I threw this together one afternoon before...
unfortunately I didn’t realize the gmt400 9.5s came in two different widths the axle I have only has a 65.5” wheel mounting surface width. 3 inches narrower than the 10 bolt. The heavy half ton axle shafts I was going to buy to stick in this axle are about 1 3/8” longer per side, so that mean’s...
Stripped down and the gouges I made are welded up. The tubes are pitted where the u bolt plates were. .115” don’t think I’m going to weld those they are wide.
Picked up a 9.5” 14 bolt semi floater from a 99 k2500. Plan on cutting all the brackets and brake stuff off the 10 bolt and gluing it on the 9.5. I was disappointed about the g80 I was told it had a open diff. Clean up to begin shortly.
