The lobo mod is simply a shelf system that suspends from the Xterras ceiling tie down hooks. Some have improved it so it won't rattle and it can be swung down turning it into a pet barrier. Here are some pics.
Yes, if you don't plan on using it as your primary off road vehicle then you'll be fine. Like the others said above, you can upgrade to a suspension better than what TRD gives you and you can always add a locker if the truck becomes your go to vehicle down the road.
I too would opt for this choice. You'll be able to carry more gear and still be able to sleep more safely/convienently in the bed. I believe 1993 was the last year Toyota offer a long box (7' bed) option on the 4x4 so I'd look for one of these. 1992 ended it on the 4x2. My neighbor has a...
First of all Congrats! I agree with above. I think you may have a hard time doing this safely. Owning a double cab my self you have to mount the whole lower seat, its not split like the seatback. I would be very hesitant doing a custom set up. The factory seat was designed/tested to...
I don't believe there is any difference between the 4Runner and Tacoma rear diff lindicator ight or switches. They should also be mounted in the same locations, to the left of the steering wheel. The switch Jeff is describing is the center diff lock. Not the same as the rear diff lock. If he...
So how do you read the maps? I'm downloading them but they are so small I can't use them. Do I need some other software to be able to enlarge them or am I just an idot??
The locker button on my Tacoma simply said "RR DIFF LOCK." I believe that is how the factory switch should look. My 02 4Runner had a center diff lock and it looked more like the switch you described. I would look at the factory manual and it should be able to tell if it is a rear locker or a...
I ended up buying some SAWs (2.0) about 1 1/2 ago and prior to that had talked to All-Pro about thier coils. At that time they told me you could get it with a variety of spring rates so I imagine you still can. While I love my SAWs, they are a bit stiff on the slow rocky trails that I normally...
Just be careful about feeding your dog camping scraps then putting him in the truck to sleep. My neighbor did this when we were camping last year. Well the dogs, yes 2 of them, both crapped all over the inside of the truck then proceeded to step in it and smear it all over everything. :eek...
I used to do a lot of free dive spear fishing off the coast of Block Island (Rhode Island) growing up. Man I miss that. Kind of hard to do here in Colorado. I actually found my old gun when cleaning out the garage a few weeks back. Just tossed it in the trash. It was a mess. One of my...
I just picked one of these up from Sportsmans Warehouse. They are getting rid of them for $20! Figure for that price it's worth a try. In just the few minutes I spent looking at it, it seems decent and I should be able to attach it to my Load Warrior. The tarp seems fairly thin, we'll see...
I just gotta have a locker and it's something I probably would never have installed aftermarket so if the factory offers one I'll take it. I've got the TRD package on my Tacoma and the OR package on my Xterra. The TRD locker seems to engage a little faster than the Nissans. I was out playing...
I agree with the above for the same reasons. Now if you are looking at those two vehicles as a second vehicle then either is a good choice. I just bough an 06 Xterra OF and my neighbor bought an 06 4Runner Sport the next day. Comparing them as stock vehicles each has pros/cons. The 4Runner has...
While there are a lot of similarities between the Xterra and Frontier, fully boxed frame, 4.0 engine, interior, they are really two separate platforms. Thats why I've got a truck and the Xterra! :hehe: So far we've had the Xterra for a month and we love it. There are several mild lifts...
I have not taken the Xterra 4Wheeling yet but just messing around with it the low gearing, 6 speed MT, seems to be fairly good, better that my auto Tacoma. The crawl ratio is 40:1.
