The currie one comes with a decent bag, not as nice as the ARB one though. Looking at the photo of the tire kit I imagine its a re-badge of the Safety Seal Kit. If so it's a great kit. I would not go out on the trail without one. The only extra appears to be a tire guage.
It looks suspiciously like the Currie E-Z Tire deflator that I've been using for the past few years?
The Currie one works great and can be had for about $27-$30. Is the ARB one the same or is there something different about it?
As a Frontier owner (late model, D40 as they call it), it's nice to know that these vehicles are available to ARB and that this truck's config is suitable for "outback" travel. Here are some high points:
Fully boxed frame
Front coil over suspension (good-bye torsion bars!)
Strong and reliable...
I'm actually impressed with my 03'. I only tow a 2600lbs tent trailer but even with the cab and bed loaded with another 1000lbs or so it does great. Now when going over 11,000+ foot mountain passes you won't break any land speed records but it still moves at about 40 mph. Once up at altitude...
Ah! Just read your other thread and see you have the 2.7l and 4.88 gears. Must be a nice combination. I used to have a 95 regular cab Taco with that motor. Had the truck for 8 years and got rid of it for my current double cab. I still miss that truck and motor sometimes. Great combination imo.
The 3 sizes of Black Rat winches sell for about $280, $380 and $650. That's what makes this one so appealing. I just wonder how good it is for $150. They've been making them since 1934 so it can't be that bad of a product.
So I'm debating if I should get an electric winch or start off with a manual. I have never needed a winch before and usually stay on easy to moderate trails so I am leaning towards a manual winch. I have read Scotts review of the Black Rat winch then I came across this product. The More Power...
Thats awesome. My wife just got an Xterra and it's even the same color as this one. Hmm? I wonder if she'd let me do that to hers? I doubt it, but she is letting me put some sliders on it so I guess thats a start.
Okay so I just passed 1,000 miles on the Xterra yesterday. The break-in period is 1200 miles, according to the manual. Nissan recommends oil changes every 3750 miles. Should I wait that long or since the engine is breaking in should I get it changed at around 1200 then use then at 3750 there...
Great pics. I've lived all over this country and Colorado is by far my favorite place. I've been here 7 years and have yet to get down to the Durango area! It's on my short list of things to do.
