I have the MAXX in a 35 x 12.5 x 15. Absolutely quietest tire I've run on the Jeep for on pavement. Rides like a dream even tho my 97 TJ is not by any means 'new'. I have also had a little bit of experience with these tires offroad where I found them to flex nicely when aired down, and find...
Did something similar just recently. I used my engel 17 as a freezer, and my engel 35 as frig. The 35 is too big/heavy/bulky so I sold it and got a Dometic 11. I may have to reload a few water bottles at a time but it works great. If I plan my food correctly and pack smartly the new...
I stand corrected. Looks like I was given some bogus info. While an inverter that is turned on but not powering anything will not pull it's fully rated load as I incorrectly mentioned prior, there still will be some load on the vehicle battery, but much lower.
Sorry for the bad info.
I've always heard that you need quite a bit more than idle, and 5 - 10 minutes, to make any difference. Need to get that charging system spinning fast and for awhile in order to supply any sort of re-charge to the battery.
Like, make a highway run for 30 minutes
Check what power any inverter is drawing while in use. Many draw their full rated load from your battery, regardless of how much/little you are powering through that inverter
let's try some pics
this shows the strap after if was cut into 2 sections, and loops sewn into one end of each section
detail of sewing (no load rating tested)
Next is the 2 sections inter-weaved to make one long strap again, shown loosely configured and then also snugged up. Similar to how...
I'll see if I can get some pics, I just listed my house for sale and am still 'polishing' all those little aesthetic things you say you will get to 'some day'. So now that I want top dollar, it's 'some day' today! Might be several days.
I sent an email to Rollercam with the same words as my...
I read the tiedown strap comparison test that the overland journal did a while back. Liked what I saw about the ease of use and security of the Rollercam product so I bought a few. Here's my thoughts on the Rollercam strap products.
The product is amazing. But.....they are more useful with the...
I have the DIY version of the StowAway. Looking at the pic, flip it upside down, angle the u-bolt so the round cross portion of the u-bolt fits in the elbow made by the end lip of the receiver and the receiver body, use the std cross bar for the u-bolt (or 2 of them) across the top of the bar...
My solution for the last 10 or 15 years was a 110 volt air compressor, running on a DC - AC voltage converter / inverter that I installed in the Jeep.
Advantages include the compressor runs at a much lower rpm (in my mind that translates to longer life, and it is much quieter), the voltage...
In the Wrangler I run a 700 watt. If I run it without the jeep motor running, it 'may' trip on the start up once every 10 uses, but there is a reset button. No problems if the Jeep motor is running (eg the alternator is providing the supply current).
In my dakota I run a 1000 watt, no problems...
If you have a voltage inverter (DC to AC) onboard you open up the potential selections to AC powered compressor units. They usually run at much lower rpm and are quieter (not scientifically tested, just an observation).
I have Chicago Pneumatics (Harbor Freight!) units both in my wrangler...
hydraulic by milemarker - ya that's right! :wings:
just throwing it out there - plenty of prior discussion of pros/cons for electric and hydraulic - let's just not go there!! :smiley_drive:
