So, to answer some questions that popped up in the original sales thread, regarding how much I paid...
Original cost of this truck in 2012 was $57,112. Not many options - heated mirrors, factory air, floor mats, and the "pre-delivery inspection" (which is actually called the "good to go"...
Yep, it's fully singled out.
I don't think I'm going to go any larger than what's on it now. It seems to be a decent balance between top speed, clearance, stability, etc. Going larger diameter would make this even more of a slug, but if it had a two speed transfer, I might actually consider...
Thanks folks!
As to the flatbed, this was always going to be a dedicated RV build. Once the house is on, that's it. Flatbed is unnecessary extra weight and height....so it gets ditched. Shame, because it's a really nice flatbed. That headache rack folds backwards. Loosen two bolts and it swings...
That's a great question, actually. You're right in that it's an ARB bumper, and the previous owner had it put on. He's had everything from Toyota to Rovers, but I'll be swapping it out and selling it in preference for an Aluminess product. I wonder if there's a serial number on it that would...
Good info, once I have more data I'll add in what I find. I do know that with the 19.5's on it, the speedo reads about 3 - 4 mph low, using GPS as the baseline.
Very nice, congrats on the purchase. I'll look for your other thread - I've got one too to start, since I just found a truck also, and just got back home from driving it back. I was one of the other potential purchasers of your truck, but I was waiting until he was back from the Expo :)
I'll add in, just as an update, that the individual I spoke with at Mitsu was completely incorrect in her findings of only one procedure having been done on this truck. I bought it, and the service center found multiple things that had been fixed. There was a bit more gear noise than I thought...
I spoke with Dan before I left on this latest adventure (bought an FG!). Genuinely nice guy! I think he'll turn out to be a good friend. He's fairly local to me so I'll be visiting him once I'm back home, and I'm sure I'll get tons of ideas. Biggest issue for me was....dat dere ees a beeg truck...
I convinced the wife everything was fine, she drove home with the dogs, and I stayed behind to get to Fuso service center first thing next morning. Found a Rush truck center (sure, we do Fuso....), went there with plans to sleep in front of their shop till they open. Got there...hmm....no signs...
Thanks folks, especially skifreak for posting that pic - looks like the same sealant, the truck I'm looking at is done a bit more sloppy, but that looks like it's about it.
oooooooo
Gauntlet. Thrown. Down.
You and Fuso

Let's do some real world testing.
MogFest 2015....be there.
:bike_rider:
And then newer FG's don't even have a low range xfer, right?
Which leads me to question....the FG has been around for...
Input please - I'm looking at a truck that doesn't have much of a maintenance record, or recall work done. But this RTV work doesn't look like something a factory would do, so I need input from current owners. Does it look like this transmission has been messed around with? Rebuilt, or at the...
Interesting. I agree that there should be a record, especially with an expensive fix like that. The particular truck I'm looking at has had only one recall done, and a minor one at that. I've done a VIN search through Fuso, and that's all they turned up. Of course, that was over the phone, maybe...
Thanks EC, I guess I'm not getting through to the right folks at the Fuso dealerships. Business as usual, I guess.
The folks I've talked to don't have a real clear idea of what they're doing, time to make some more calls. Of course, this is the kinda information that they'd rather not have the...
'mogs are specifically designed to utilize their frames as part of their suspension flexibility. They're designed not to be rigid, and to have a large degree of motion, relative to other trucks. Plus, some of the more flexy models of 'mog are specifically designed as off road trucks.
FG really...
