Little stuff
We've been going in and out of this thing, and have had up to 5 people standing inside including a couple really good sized guys that make me look little, it's pretty roomy, and the jacks and mounts don't show any sign of distress. It sits nice and solid on them, so you COULD drop...
Looks good, all solid decisions. We have moved away from aftermarket parts in many areas. For some stuff there is no alternative but for those cases the stuff is generally pretty good (mod type stuff).
Cheers!
The chemicals are pricey.....damn pricey! But the benefits of money spent on good stuff far outweigh the negatives of using the cheap stuff. Looking good. You have far more patience than I !!
Hey, you know what? I have the same thoughts of those kick ***** pics you manage to grab at just the right time. I have enough difficulty with a still shot and a smart camera.....
Corner caps....the sequel
Enough 252? It's not going to leak.....ever!
After clean up.
Lower unit, was fun to build and looks pretty good.
Front view. I like heavy duty corner caps, the finish the unit off nicely, add structural integrity...your not gonna rip one off, and they seal up 100%.
Corner caps go on all builds. They finish the corners nicely and really tie up the structural perimeter, I should have our cast units done in a couple of months, will save some time and money and should look even better.
The Southco latches I used were the plastic ones, we have the cast ones...
Corner Caps!! 10 hours of cutting, forming, tig welding, sanding....but these will get shot white and will finish off the corners aesthetically and structurally. Just have to whip up a ladder, roof rack, and rear mounted storage locker and the outside is done. Also made the decision to peel the...
Subbed, I love your floor plan, plan some of the central mass over the rear axle to keep the CG in check, it's pretty easy to over load the front axle.
Idasho hit it right with the term light being relative. My F-650 is 6000 pounds UNDER gvw. It drives, steers, and stops EXCELLENT and gets 9-10 MPG doing it. It has taken an absolute beating and shows no wear other than the stainless mudflap weights being totally beat into a banana shape from...
Non cab over is a whole different ball game too. I'm not sure what the layout would look like for a 4 season without the cabover or what amenities you would be looking for, but that could be a very lightweight unit without the cabover section. What are you thinking for amenities adam88...
I really like the benefit of the aluminum structure as well, everything in the whole build adds strength and that is important. You are absolutely 100% with the cost per pound vs comfort and convenience. You could save a ton of weight, pack like a backpacker, and have a very strong, dry, secure...
Came in at 2094 lbs, have to add about 30 more pounds to the dry weight yet. Check out the build thread for some numbers I came up with for dropping weight, solar vs generator, etc. It's pretty accurate since we have actual component weights.
I just did some aluminum bumpers exactly the same for a fleet job, client can bypass all scales under 4500kg if we achieve the weight. They came in almost 150 pounds lighter but don,t have a hitch, with a class 5 hitch you'd still save 100 pounds.
Well, the cabin was around 762 lbs empty, the exact number should be back in the thread, I'm just going off of memory, so if we take a 10' cabin that works out to approx. 75 lbs per foot, adjust with a guess for the overhead and I'd say we will pull 125 lbs out for 8'. We can adjust the .125...
My 650 is big enough! I need a smaller faster rig! This unit will work good. Although if I had a Man I'd be contributing to the western Canadian economy, more so than our government!
