Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

That's correct. In my current unit I run 2 group 31 AGM's with 150 watts of solar, during the long summer days we never run the generator. On day 4 of our Thanksgiving trips we usually fire the generator up to make breakfast on day 4, the weather last year was above freezing so the furnace ran...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Got the batteries in, and sunk the LED's into the light bar that runs right down the middle of the inside of the camper. Went with 6 volt AGM's, generally used in golf carts, good capacity, take a beating.

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Ha, it sure looks like I screwed up from the pic, but it's just one door is fully closed, and one partially open. The fit is dead on square. the wood looks better in person, finish turned out really good, everything is square, and I do like it. It's just not perfect, but I don't claim to be a...

We do have some cool stuff, weather included! There are quite a few Hagglunds around, they are nice. Got some work done, electrical which we are extremely good at will come together quickly now, wood looks good enough but next time around it's a cabinet maker or synthetic.

The light Got the pine from the router shop today, sunk in for flush mount LED lights. I added a groove in the backside for wiring to run through, the T section is separate but when in place, looks like one piece. That section of trim is all it takes to get wiring from one place to the next...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

The more I work with wood, the more I'm going to look at ABS! Pine is light, had hardwood picked out but was almost 100 lbs difference. Pine is economical but what I saved on materials, I spent on time and finishing, soft woods suck up an enormous amount of stain, but the bonus is the appearance...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Thanks for the recommendation, I checked out a few jobs done with that and they look great. It will keep the disaster in the shop down! I got most of the wood done in 2 coats, the second coat brought out a lot of depth and gave the pine on "old" look. While stuff was drying I got some of the...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Yeah I think the matte clear is going to work out good to soften up the interior with the dark wood. Thanks for the comments, I think I have good taste, sometimes the ability to execute is challenging! I got most of the cabinet doors off of the cnc router today, I screwed up and missed 3 doors...

Lite weight campers & RVs. Consumers/customers need to push manufacturers....

I believe you will have success, I think you did a great build, I really like it because it is different than what I work with and it is done correctly. If you stick to the construction philosophy and price your units so you turn a profit you won't need any luck, and it's always best to try and...

Walnut in a can Started the messy staining process, went with a dark walnut cuz I like it, thinking about a matt clear though rather than a gloss, I like matt finishes. All the doors are done today so the weekend will be spent watching paint dry.

Thanks guys, I like seeing the wood come together. "tree artifacts", good description, something about wood is the more imperfect the specimen the more perfect it is when it comes to cosmetics. Can't say the same about welding!

The warm stuff The wood work starts, decided on knotty lodgepole pine, great features, stains really nicely, 1/18th of the cost of the batch of rosewood that I went to the till with first! Cabinet doors and drawer faces are getting cnc router cut so I can get the Southco latch profile cut in...

The sill is an in house designed profile. GM, Ford, and Dodge all have their own profiles designed specifically for that application. It is laser cut and formed from which ever steel thickness is required for the application.
