Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Actuators and guides Firgelli Automation stocks the actuators and guides in Canada and USA. Were good to deal with. Going away from a $20 piano hinge cost $960 more! But it will be nice, and keep the interior roomy at the same time.

Tip for the homebuilders Try this stuff for a super clean cutting/tapping lube. We use it on sanding discs for fine polishing, drilling, tapping a hundred holes is easy with a drill, the right size hole and some edge lube. It also works to prevent galling on stainless fasteners, it's paraffin...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Side shots with all the windows in, and the Thetford door for the cassette toilet, I might build my own doors going forward, they are OK but……. Fridge vents and door. Nice and clean. And spent a week skiing at Silver Star! Saw these things at the rental shop, thought it was funny, then I...

Update! Got a lot of stuff done, roughed in wiring, bathroom is a pile closer, rest of the windows showed up. Wiring in fridge cabinet. Coming through the main cabinet. Water tank side. The safety factor, I like Blue Sea stuff. Actuators and linear guides for bunk, I was going to...

Hey Chris, check with Victorian here on the board and see if he can set you up with a delivery to the left coast, if that doesn't work out check with Beaufort Composites out of Florida, still a distance but on theta side of the country. Steel done right is OK, you need to get a proper powder...

modern diesel for overlanding in developing countries - post your solutions

Tigercat Industrial met tier 4 emissions with DEF only last year, no particulate filters, no egr, no variable turbo, nothing. They can run both fuels. def has been huge in cleaning up emissions for years, using it to max capacity and eliminating all the other stuff makes a lot of sense, their...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Thanks guys. You can't have a flap because you need to vent the fridge condenser, the back of every larger fridge is somewhat exposed to the elements and outside temperatures, the sides if the fridge will have insulation between the fridge and cabinet to keep the cold away from the cabinet...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Some progress. Plate for water fill, and city hook up. Whale 15MM tubing with quick connects, really solid stuff. I bought a few brands to compare and Whale was superior. Water tank, pump, accumulator installed and plumbed. Pump will pull water up 10 feet, so no issue with it on top of...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

That would be a pretty solid rig, you could use a hook lift on something of that size, we use Stellar and Palfinger, we have also built a few custom units a few years back that sat in the deck so everything was flush. More work and money but really nice, looked good. My old 700 will be up for...

It is the one that pulls air in from the outside, this is the version designed to be used in a vehicle application. Some countries have laws/standards against using internal air for combustion, this is compliant for those applications, this version is also altitude compensating. It really is...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Sorry I missed this! I am going through the side wall, can't go through the floor, and the rear wall creates too much of a negative pressure on the exhaust side and will kill the burn. I'm using the 10 litre tank, CSA certification helps in my case, there is a thermostat to control the unit. It...

I haven't had personal experience with 5200, but know a few guys that use it successfully, I really like that you can get it UV stabilized. Every 3M product we use has worked flawlessly so I'd anticipate that from the 5200. $23 a tube is cheaper than redoing a project too!

You bet, and if you don't have a metallic colour we have an aliphatic coating you can use on the exterior, it's self healing, the pinstripes and small scratched disappear in a day or so.

The polyurethane adhesives like Sika are actually very workable, just severely messy when you have to remove it. Once it cures it remains a little flexible and very strong. I would have pulled the sink, but it was a judgement call, and I didn't feel like cleaning up the mess and starting over...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

Start of the little things Tight fit, faucet holes laser cut in counter top, makes a nice fit, should stay tight too. Sink, for $400 it could have had a little better finish, corners were upturned slightly and I never noticed until after I put the adhesive to it, could have worked it flat...

Ahhhhh never thought of Amazon, thanks Ward. I was going to buy from an online fabric store, I need to order soon. If memory serves correct, this was available in hemp too. Thanks for the comment Maninga, swing by any time! Love your build, I have had some dealings with the Styromax guys, really...

No additional UV protection is required. Do you have any manufacturers for the stick on armor? I have a couple applications for something like that in other areas. Andreas, where'd your post go? That was good info on repairing delamination. I've fixed a few delams on other manufacturers...

Flatbed and composite panel build on Dodge 2500

This is good info, and I have made repairs and seen repairs on panels made, both composite, and foam core. If the skins are fiberglass, and the damage is a slice/pierce simply use a fiberglass reinforced filler and sand/paint. Or if you have a hole you can cut a section out and replace it with a...
