I have an APRS unit in my truck (mobile ham unit) and use it for the same purpose you mentioned (off the grid). Thanks for the clarification. I did not realize you can tag multiple APRS units per call sign. So essential, you can tag multiple items with APRS trackers? How would that show up...

Thanks this was super helpful.. I have a kendwood in my truck and i love it... $400 is steep for a mobile unit, but looks pretty good. 80% of their radios have issues, read reviews on multiple sites including eham. Wasn't the case a few years ago. They also seem to turn around radios often...

@prerunner1982 Which blue tooth serial device/cable did you use? Is there a specific way to SMS-APRS through the ISS/Sat? or just happened to be in clear site?

Nice setup! Have you tried using APRSDROID or has anyone tried using bluetooth messaging and tracking through an android phone and APRS?
