They are about the same - all will require a little trimmi front ng. I was pretty amazed at how the frame reinforcement imptoved the ride - no more flex. Rear bunper was fine but the bolt required some cutting to the frame attachment. First rule of bolt on additions... nothing is ever bolt on.
I think your RPMs will be too high if you go 5.29s with that engine and MT. I think you nailed it the first time with 4.88. That is unless you are in the mountains all the time on the trails, then maybe you could make a case for 5.29s.
My experience is with the 5.29s, 3RZ and AT, and I'm...
That sounds like a good plan - you'll likely be happier with the ICONs for the long-haul.
SAS - Another controversial topic that is subject to personal opinion and experience, but I'm not happy with the limitations IFS presents me. I've imagined a "hyper-capable" expeditionary rig and IFS, for...
I love you Martinjmpr! :D Thanks for reinforcing my point... OP went with 255s (33.4) with stock gearing -- his butt dynomometer can tell the difference. 007's regear will put him back in the powerband, although he'll still slow things down a bit... like me; even a re-gear won't work miracles...
Thanks for the kind remark - I like it too!
I added the X29 Dakar AAL, as recommended by ARB, drilled out the center-pin hole to match the existing center-pin and used that - it has the length for the additional leaf.
You're not done yet... I think the threads include swapping the N85s for...
Well, imagine it Martinjmpr... :coffeedrink:
The math would make you think it doesn't seem to be a big deal; tables will convince you it's an insignificant number with a decimal point in the middle. Butt-dynomometers vary though, and you will find this a highly contested issue... some will...
Great report - nicely composed pictures - really captures the trip, along with your words, the beauty of the land you visited.
This place needs to go on my list of places to explore. Thank you!
You cited some desired characteristics of your canvas bed topper. I have the CanBack and it meeds my goals; so does Will.
You don't need to get a CanBack top and I don't thinks its even made for your gen Tacoma but the framework is pretty darn rugged and could serve as a template for your...
You are not alone... your observations have been shared and discussed before. See what others have experienced and see if this helps address some of your thoughts.

Very interesting build plan. Truck looks good! I'll be keeping an eye on your thread and I'm not affiliated with any government intelligence, law enforcement, or surveillance agency.
Boy, do I feel like an idiot... I have the same vehicle, bumper, and Hawse fairlead. Wish somebody told me it wouldn't fit when I bolted it right up without any problems and using it for the last few years.
Nice selection; they'll look and perform to your earlier described criteria. Really durable, too.
Maybe you can build a Full-size Expedition BigFoot Concept Truck with 54" Michelins later...
