As said above, it’s the Toyota tax. Xterras are great for a mid-size SUV. They are a solid platform for multi-week trips and the Offroad/Pro4x package is pretty capable out of the box.

2007 Off-Road package
Purchased 2012 with no mods and 60k on the odometer. Swore I wasn’t gonna build it out because at the time, I also had a 2001 XJ on 35s and long arms for playing. This was to be a daily driver and ski trip vehicle. Ha. Haha. So that silly...
We picked up an ‘18 with 14k on it last year and then I ran it down to Prescott from anchorage in Sept to get the habitat installed. Gotta love getting back from a trip like that and still managing to get it in for a look over before time out on the warranty.

did you guys run the whole thing over into the park too? I was through there last week of September in the power wagon. I hadn’t been over medano since 2018 in my xterra and I had forgotten how tight the brush was on the sand dunes side... CO pinstripe over the AZ pinstripe ?

wife and I recently added an AT Habitat to our ’18 power wagon. Installed in Prescott right before overland expo, then knocked out 5000mi and over 10 nights in it coming back up to the snows of AK.

Yes we did. Took awhile, and a couple sections took some slow going with the long WB and low break-over angle of the Taco, but we did it. Pretty fun (and beautiful) trail!!!
