Flares
Another good reason to have flares is that on gravel roads at about 50 mph you will throw gravel out in front of the truck and crack your own windshield. (Ask me how I know!)
The best flare option for the FG637 is the stock flares/steps from a heavier duty Fuso FH of the same vintage...
Ok..... I'll bite. Don't use synthetic in the rear differential as it interferes with proper operation of the limited slip! Everywhere else should be good. I prefer to use conventional and change it more often as I am more concerned about contamination from lots of dirt work and water...
Nice~!
I have been considering one of these trailers. They look just right to get the job done. Although really I just need to reduce the amount of stuff I am taking! Do you have the halflinger?

Brakes
A bit late now, but it is best not to work the brakes too hard for a few hundred kilometers so they can break in. Otherwise you end up glazing the shoes and they will never work right. I would be very interested in a product description of the new shoes as I am in need of some...
PTO
I would love to have pto. It is on my list of future modifications. The ability to run winches without taxing the electrical system is very attractive. He who hesitates is lost. Go get it!

It is a S-280 military communications shelter. You can pick them up on the government liquidation web site. I considered one of these as a quick way to get on the road, but ultimately felt it was too tall.
Take care,

I love my 2000 model year truck. Watching to see how much this one goes for. Classic camper construction with stock suspension would not be long for this world I think.

Goannatracks
I purchased a set of 17's from Goannatracks last year and would highly recommend them. Single piece barrels and very robust construction. I hit a 2 foot diameter rock hiding behind a bush at about 20 mph this year with zero damage. After my debacle with "custom" wheels last year...
We went for a multiple week hard core off road trip this spring with vehicles equipped with both ratios. You would think that the lower ratio would make a big difference, (and personally I would choose it due to the increased tire sizes), but the high ratio vehicles didn't seem to be too...
