Oh man, there's a trail that goes out around Temple mountain, and it was a blast. Had a few rock gardens, some cross-axle sections, but low risk for body damage. Super scenic, and worth exploring!
Thanks! Put it high on your list - it's such a cool area. The Goblin Valley itself is a trip, but...
Thanks! I don't know what typical Goblin Valley crowds look like, but compared to the rest of the Covid Crowds I have experienced this year elsewhere, they were fairly minimal. Had no trouble with parking, finding dispersed camping, trails weren't over crowded, it was really nice!
With no plans for Halloween, we decided to load up Eleanor, our 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser, and hit the road. Neither of us had ever been to Goblin Valley State Park before, but with a few recommendations from good friends, and some research of our own, we set out for a quick overnighter. GVSP did...
This time of year here in Utah, the leaves are exploding in colors, causing a breathtaking sight to behold in our beautiful mountains. But what that also means is these places are also extremely crowded. Not our thing, tbh. So we find ourselves going out to the desert, searching for our own...

Thanks for the tip! I found a hike that goes straight to it. I'll let you know how it goes! https://www.alltrails.com/explore/trail/us/utah/big-beacon-mount-wire-trail
That's so fun! Love hearing stories about people finding these across the US
A member on another forum shared this, for additional info on these cool airway beacons.

This one left me stranded at a gate. It's on private land, and even though it's BLM around it, you can't get to it. Super bummed too, it looks awesome! And is close to where I live.
Utah is freaking rad. I think I first heard about these airway beacons from a local guy, detailing their history. Ever since I've been wanting to go out and find them! I found 2, and the 3rd was unreachable because of a locked gate. Besides that one behind the gate, there are still 2 more out...
