It was growing late in the afternoon and we needed groceries. So we headed out of the bush and made a b-line for Millheim, which still took us a good 45 minutes to get to. You cant go anywhere fast here, have to go up and over or between the mountains.
We found this Postal Jeep in Woodward...
WEDNESDAY
We got up and lightened the load in the Xterra a little. We knew that we would be staying at the cabin again that night, so we removed all of the camp gear (tents, sleeping bags, camp kitchen etc). One of the main attractions of the cabin was that we were going to be stationary for...
Good deal on the tires. Look forward to the pictures. Welcome to the 235 85 club, at least 4 of us in the Nissan section running them, I think you will really enjoy the size
Correct, the Xterras came with auto hubs
I actually called Nissan last year to see how much a new auto-hub would cost. I posted it in here i think, but it was in excess of $700....EACH.
When one of mine fails, I will be looking for a used one, failing that Ill be selling my one good and get a...
I think so. The seals must have failed sometime earlier this summer. Then when I drove through all the water it bypassed the seals. I had no issues on the trip because we were driving so much. It sat over 48 hours after we got back so in thinking they corrded while they were stationary and...
Had a weird noise after I came back, two weird noises actually. Ended up that some of the bearings and seals in the front of the truck were gone. They were the original so after 195 000 km I guess it was time. The rotors were actually further gone than I thought so the pads and rotors were...
Load Range E with higher strength/ply sidewalls is nice is rocky terrain as well
Its always a tough call between the AT/MT, but that is the advantage of the STT and GY Duratrac, but they also come at a cost
I really like the 235 85 size, had awesome success with it, especially this last week. Unless you expect really deep snow or mud, a skinnier tire will provide better traction in just about any other situation
I hadn't seen that D/T before. Has a really nice old school solid look about it.
they do look nice, and would fit the opening better, as is always the issue is finding a vendor up here or somewhere to ship it without killer duties. I have a bit of time before I plan on ordering, so ill look closer, maybe somewhere up here carries them
There was a USGS Survey Marker from 1957 there, this place is in the middle of nowhere now, it must have been really remote 55 years ago!
We then took Flat Hollow Road, which was listed as a driveable trail, but was significantly easier going than knob ridge road.
Little bit of flex...
TUESDAY
We awoke that morning to a beautiful sunrise, and a crisp clear day. The temperature had dropped a little, and would be cooler for the coming few days, but there would be no rain, perfect for exploring. I was a little nervous of what we would encounter, I knew that there were not any...
We did find a lot of gated roads, even in the one day we spent exploring. We wished we had more time to Hike, it looked like there were endless miles of great trails.
MONDAY
The next morning we awoke to wet tents, wet ground but dry equipment. We hung up our flys and tents as best we could and made a quick breakfast. The rain had stop and we were both excited to get on the road and head towards Bald Eagle State Forest. There were several options on our...
I believe the dually housings are 3" x 3". The opening is 2.5 inches for the stock fogs, but it looks like the actual lense of the light is less than the 3x3, so I'm hoping that it will fit without any light being cutoff.
I agree on all parts, love the cheaper gas especially. We were payoing 3.60 a gallon, its less than a dollar a litre.
My wife is from Welland, my in laws still live there. If something works out next year we should try and setup a combo trip. We would like to go with an extra vehicle next...
