    Extending Cab over on grandby

I don't have any measurements, and I have a Fleet versus Grandby. But you're welcome to check out my build thread to see if anything helps. Post #11 is likely your best bet. https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/1982-fleet-flatbed-conversion-project.171811/

    Falken Wildpeak AT3W Long Term?

Yeah they're great on snow and ice. My truck serves as a powder chaser in winter (Wyoming based), so I usually am seeking out the days when roads are barely open. Extensive full depth siping gives them plenty of biting edges. I've never run true winter tires but these are solid in my opinion...

    Falken Wildpeak AT3W Long Term?

I've had a set in 235/85R16 for just under 2 years and about 25k miles. They're at 50% tread depth left. This is on a pickup that weighs about 6500lbs most of the time, with occasional runs close to 7k or as light as 5k. On road I run 40-50psi, off road 18-22psi. I usually aim to cruise highways...

    Extending Cab over on grandby

Some form of polyurethane construction adhesive from home depot, nothing too fancy. My interior panels are just a plastic sheet type material, seems to hold fast.

    Extending Cab over on grandby

@BajaSurfRig I can't say I recall for sure. Maybe 1.25" long #10 or #12? I know I predrilled and countersunk them. I also bonded the wood to the camper interior. It's still very solid.

    Load E Tires

They're not good. Load right up in mud. I agree with you though, they're working great for me thus far (about 20k miles).

1/2 Ton VS 3/4 Ton Trucks for Four Wheel Camper Hawk model?

It's the way to go man. I have an old Fleet I turned into a flatbed model to go on my old F-150, it's very spacious, like it seems ridiculous when it's just me, but very comfortable when friends join and bring dogs. Doing a 1 year trip? No question you should go that route if it's financially...

    Extending Cab over on grandby

The cabover bed is 3/4" birch ply, both the fixed and the slide sections. There's slight deflection if I sit on the edge in the middle, nothing to worry about but I'm only ~170lbs. The 3" face oak is key, and it's also backed with a 1" square piece on the top side of the ply. If you used 4" and...

    Extending Cab over on grandby

Does this work? Each side of the camper has 3/4" poplar screwed into the frame (notched near the rear ends), with another on the front wall of the camper. These support the slide out when it is out. An oak face board on the 3/4" thick plywood slide out hangs down about 3/4" and that drops...

Build camper using ladder rack as a frame?

To be honest, after I used a fwc frame as my builds starting point, I would, without question, start from scratch. I spent more time reconfiguring that frame than I anticipated, and all the while felt constrained by it. I see a ladder rack in a similar light. Chop saw, welder, and a pile of...

    Overland Journal AT Tire Test

That's interesting. What size are you running? My 235/85r16 Falken AT3W load up quick, and don't clean well (around here). My roommate has the same tire but in a 265/75/R17, and the tread spacing is notably larger, so I suspect some sizes perform better in mud just based on that.

    Pricing on a 1993 Dodge 250 diesel

The Craigslist ad (if I found the right one) for that '89 $5500 gen 1 shows its a rusty Midwest truck, so that's probably why it isn't selling at that price. https://ames.craigslist.org/cto/d/1989-dodge-cummins/6703288207.html

Advice on purchasing a truck shell?

For any kind of camping, I'd be going for a high top. I've camped under a cab height Leer in a Tundra quite a bit and found the height the limiting factor of comfort. Another 6" would have been huge.

Learn me about the 6.9/7.3 idi motors

The seemingly legendary status of the i6 is interesting. They really don't make much torque, and certainly not power. Maybe they're liked because peak torque is at 2000 rpm, even if it is ultimately lower than many other engines at the same rpm. Very limited aftermarket support. For comparisons...

Help me decide!!!! RV or Full-size

That RV would make it to 2 of my camp sites of the last year (both were state parks): I wouldn't even entertain the thought. I would figure out something for a 4x4 pickup. Yes, I'm biased, because that's what I have. But, I've got a lightweight pop up camper (old FWC) on an older gas powered...

Learn me about the 6.9/7.3 idi motors

Buy a flight, hop in, drive home. No rusty Midwest truck. https://fortcollins.craigslist.org/cto/d/94-fpowertroke/6689794697.html Well, needs tires and a carrier bearing, neither a big deal. But, a powerstroke is where the cheap maintenance ends compared to an idi. That's the big attraction of...

Any Intel on the new BFGATKO2 DT heavy duty?

Maybe it's a lesser tire in terms of performance, to get people running hot blacktop (in heavy trucks) to get more miles and stop complaining, but they don't know how to say that? Idk, just thinking out loud. Edit: Also, not saying complaints of poor tread life are invalid. These tires are $$$...

    Extending Cab over on grandby

I suspect this Grandby has the ~24" cabover, much like my '82 Fleet. My bed slides out into the living space, but a longer cabover would be nice. The main hoop/frame of the cabover is just some thin aluminum channel-like material, about 5" tall and 1" wide. These pictures are from my flatbed...

    Flat Bed question

I would think the primary concerns are bumper height, and proper lights for a given width. 80"+ I think the DOT wants quite a lot of lighting, whereas under 80" you just need STT, reverse, and plate light. I agree though, contact whoever would be inspecting it.
