Finding Premium (high octane) Gasoline in Remote Areas

I buit a 351w with squish of 0.041", and 9.3:1 compression. No issues on 85 octane unless I advance the ignition timing +6° over stock. I'm able to run 91 with advanced timing for a great pedal feel or, 85 octane and not as crisp. You might be aware of this, but if not: The cam specs will come...

    Tire speed rating

I just bought Falken Wildpeak at3w in a 235/85r16 and they're S rated. But as stated above, it doesn't matter if you're legally stuck to 80mph or less.

    Destination Unknown - a 1997 F350 build

C&C frame is narrower out back with straight rails instead of the arch over the axle as well.

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

Thanks! Yeah it is spacious, especially with no appliance installed yet. I want to get it to a usable shell first, then move to interior. On that topic, I'll be using the 2-way Dometic fridge, adding a propane storage bay (20lb), battery storage and small electrical junction box. There will...

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

Getting closer to camping Made some progress. Today I'll be working on tube framed lift mechanisms. 1.25"x0.125" aluminum angle was used for exterior trim. Bonded on with Sikaflex 252. Lift brackets were made of 1.5"x0.1875" aluminum angle and attached over the exterior trim. These are...

Flatbed FWC on an AT modified RAM

Several great build threads are missing photos. Definitely a bummer with photo bucket.

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

I sure hope so! I finished the door tonight. This weekend should be good to get some more done; either exterior corner trim and interior panels, or roof lift mechanism.

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

The new (upper) floor is sealed, and then glued down to the frame and floor insulation, drying overnight with a bunch of stuff sitting on it to "clamp". The wall insulation is all cut to size and installed. The door is coming along nicely, just needs glass installed, Dicor on the outer trim, and...

    Overland-ish Tacoma Flippac Build

That is super cool. Looks like some great craftsmanship. Keep it up! Post some interior photos when you have a chance. What did you skin the frame with?

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

Shellback, I'm planning on a tubular lifting setup instead of panels but appreciate the info. Bummer about the door mistake but that just adds character in my opinion. No real harm there. I've installed two windows with butyl tape, begun installing xps foam, and cut a thin ply for the floor...

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. I've been working on the door (needed all new framing and skins) and cutting/fitting insulation when I have time in the late evenings. Life is a little hectic so it's not going as swift as I'd hoped but that's okay.

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

I finally picked up siding and installed it. Went with 3mm E-panel from Montroy in Denver (very good service!) and Sikaflex 252 to bond it to the tube frame. Also began shortening & rebuilding my door. The door frame is done but the door itself needs to be cut and have some wood replaced, then...

    Four Wheel Camper Flatbed Conversion

Bummer about Photobucket. This build thread was so much better with pictures! I wonder what ever came of this thing?

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

No progress on siding; I've been busy with work and unable to run to Denver to buy it (Montroy is only open during the weekdays). The roof is removed, recurved/arced, stripped down, repainted. I pulled the door apart yesterday to cut 8" off the bottom and while I did find some rot, it is...

    XPCamper and GVWR

LOL. I was wondering if anyone would bring that post up. I thought maybe we weren't allowed, because it's a Yota and we're on ExPo. It made me laugh. I've worked on an 06 Tundra enough to know they're not anything too special. Good for a half ton but a far cry from an HD truck.

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

The upper frame & lower frames are attached, cabover bed wood is installed. Planning for siding next weekend. This weekend I'll tie up some loose ends to get ready for it. Here's pictures of the frame before attaching, and after with cabover installed.

    XPCamper and GVWR

Maybe a 2x4 Ranger/Tacoma weighs ~3000lbs empty...not a full size of any variety (that I've ever heard of?). Which pickup do you have? Have you ever weighed it? Internet curb weight estimates are often as accurate as lifted diesel Dodge fuel economy numbers; just inaccurate in the other direction..

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

Anyone have input on how much ventilation is needed in my battery compartment? I plan to have a designated battery box, with outside ventilation. Trying to determine what size of vent would do the job (to vent hydrogen gas during charging). I did not go for a sealed AGM, just a plain lead acid...

    1982 Fleet Flatbed Conversion Project

Frame progress The floor plywood is all sealed (3 coats spar varnish, 2 coats oil based enamel paint) and glued/screwed into the frame with self-drilling & tapping screws. One last coat of enamel went on after the ply was screwed down. I did this with the frame upside down, before mounting to...
