A buddy of mine rolled up to the campsite in a pair of Fjalraven Kebs. Old style fabric that you can waterproof selectively with additional wax. Billed as the last pants you'll ever need. Super tempted, they look the part that's for sure. Some of the 'technical' clothing I have feels like it's...
Whoa. Slee is very expensive. Are there no other options at more reasonable prices? I'm considering a removable bumper, 'cause my 4x4 is my daily driver. Don't want additional weight there day to day. Not questioning your choice, just trying to follow the logic.
@mep1811 is this permanently fitted to your vehicle? If not, how do you normally carry your spare? If yes, then what's the advantage over a replacement bumper?
Thanks, I haven't considered that MPPT are more efficient. Especially with our not particularly sunny weather.
BMS will take care of not overcharing the batteries, that's why I'm not worried. I am worried about not getting sufficient charge though :)
Thanks for your advice.
Thanks! I'm not worried about charge controllers 'cause my pack has a BSM which will terminate the charging current at the appropriate value. For rigid panels, do you have any suggestions? Is the aforementioned Renogy still a good buy?
Afternoon everyone,
Looking for some specific suggestions for a solar panel. Currently travelling with a 500Wh home made lithium pack and interested in being able to recharge it. I live in the pacific north west so I suspect a 100 watt panel is likely the minimum I should go for. I need...
I can't tell what kind of surface it is. If it's carbon steel, than the scratch marks don't matter. If it's coated (non-stick?) then you may have ruined it.
My final version. I combined the two approaches I saw here:
1/16" steel cable and 3 1/4" utility springs. The springs have enough tension to hold up the burner.
Assembly is straightforward, slip the loops around the legs while screwing them in. Push the burner into the center and connect the...
Yeah, very much nearby here. It comes assembled by the distributor and in canadian dollars which makes it a good deal. It is smaller and lighter than the scout. i thought maybe someone seen something similar before.
Couple of more pics;
Is anyone familiar with Doghouse trailers?
About half of the weight of the Smittybuilt Scout. Talked to the owner and it is a china import. Wondering if anyone knows about them.
Very similar to cost to Smittybuilt, but will come preassembled with some nice accoutrements already.
Thoughts?
Maybe a dumb question, but. Can you put the tire on top of the trailer, below the tent? Maybe ratchet strap or something similar?

I was really taken aback by how salty my dish tasted with canned corned beef. I googled a bit and one suggestion that seemed reasonable was to boil the beef in water briefly and then dump that water.
I haven’t tried that yet. One reason I was experimenting with canned meat is convenience. The...
Doh, of course I meant a 12p4s unit, so that you'd have a 12 serial and 4 parallel groups. So the nominal voltage would be 14.8.
for 3/4, are you expecting a single cell to fail catastrophically? By distributing the load over 6s rather than a 12s group, are you not then increasing the load on...
That’s a really clean build. Thanks for posting it. I’m working on something similar except with a 16p4s batttery. can I ask, why did you opt to go with 2 separate 4s rather then just a single 12s4p unit?
