Looking to absorb some of the Jeep wisdom here

auto maybe different than a stick. With a stick 5 spd 33s and 3.73s I couldn't get to 5th gear unless it was flat, or down hill. Off road I was riding the clutch allot. Gas mileage stock was about 16-20, after the larger tires it dropped allot with either the 3:73 or 4:56s with 33s. I picked...

Looking to absorb some of the Jeep wisdom here

If you go the Rubi route with TJ and I believe also the JK you will have 4.10s which would be much better if you want run larger tires on road and the 4:1 tcase for off road. I ran 3.73s with 33s on my TJ for a, while and didn't like it at all.

Looking to absorb some of the Jeep wisdom here

A dana 30 is fine for your needs BUT if you go with a Rubi TJ and 2.5 inch susp, a body lift you can have an extremly capable, reliable Jeep you won't be wanting to build again a few years from now if you get bit by the jeep bug. You will have lockers, you won't have to worry about re gearing...

Tippy JK with RTT and rack, need professional advice!

The OPs Jeep weighs about 3700lbs stock. It will probably be narrower and have a shorter wheelbase tban a 5k vehicle. 300lbs is signicant, the OP himself knows this. Suspension is not the fix. How he loads his vehicle is. He can easily carry an additional 300lbs, but not all of it in the roof.

Building a safe vehicle is not a tad ovef the top. I have a 4Runner and a Jeep. I can tow a camper trailer with my 4Runner I wouldn't tow with my Jeep either. I can load more into or on the 4Runner than the Jeep. The 4Runner is a better vehicle for building up for carrying weight. The...

You asked for advice, mine is if you plan to drive at highway speeds make your vehicle safe to do so. Shouldn't safety be some where close to the top of the list or at least somewhere on it?

You don't change your suspension to accomplish this, you just pack different. Heavier suspension will help you carry wait better but it won't change your center of gravity. If you are over loaded you are overloaded. If you are top heavy you are top heavy you. In your example above (post...

Winch, now what? Best/most important winch accessories

That is for creating systems for lifting loads, not winches designed to drag things. There is a safety margin built into that so in case something is being lifted and it drops a bit that shock to the system won't cause a failure. When you tie knots in the line it is looses strength, when the...

It isn't essential we go camping either. I will always have a fire unless it becomes illegal, conditions are wrong or I don't have time to watch it.

Even then the chances of flopping are still greatly increased with all that weight up top.

Options: 1. put less crap on your roof 2. load heavier stuff lower and closer to the center of your jeep. 3. get really wide axles that stick way out to help stabilize you jeep. 4. a trailer Even with heavier spring you will still be top heavy. It may help a little with the sway or leaning to...

    Tires for Lightweight Vehicles

If you want a tire that will handle more punishment that off-roading dish out get a tire designed for off roading, not for carrying more weight. A load range E tire may have a stronger sidewall than the same tire with a C rating but it is really designed to carry a heavier load not having a...

Condition Zero Mounts Jeep JK Pistol Mount

I prefer to keep my guns out of sight. My state allows you to carry a loaded fire concealed in your vehicle (anywhere within the state even schools, private property, you work, police stations, etc) as long as you can legal have a gun. I don't display my guns. I keep them locked or on my...
