FYI, the exterior plywood to use is called OSB - it's often used for making signs that sit outside. It's inexpensive, and the adhesive used to hold it all together is a resin, so it's going to hold moisture at bay very well.
CDX, another type of sheet good, would be okay if you waterproof it...
Oh Captain My Captain:
I'm moving forward with this mod. Care to share how you sealed the tank after cutting the hole in the top? Use a hack saw to make the hole? How's it sealed up? VERY curious.
Muchas gracias.

Shameless, gutless, yellow-bellied plug coming......
Read all about it in JPFreek Magazine June/July 2007, by a certain dude whom you might know. :)
Otherwise, yes, you need to get down there and drive this trail yourself. Nothing that a fridge and a full tank of gas can't handle.
Bummer. Sorry to hear you totally lost out. Good lock with the sale.
FWIW, do these UCAs offer increased travel? I can't use 'em, but someone with the right vehicle might want to know.

Justin, I was just slobbering over your gorgeous tire carrier bumper by Jeeperman, so I looked up the website. It appears they, too, are closing down.
http://www.jeeperman.com/. Total shame.
Wahoo! Someone made the thread. Gracias.
I like that shot of all the girls laughing. I'll get some photos up in a couple of days.

When does any trip goes as planned?
I rented that 17-40L two weeks ago and had a blast. My reaction with wide zooms like this is to simply leave it at 17mm and have a ball, taking advantage of the widest angle.
Of course, I was shooting with a film camera so the wide angle I got was the full shebang. That's what I loved about...
Ah, geesh fellas. Let's just get to the source, ol' Doc Brown himself: "No, no, no. This sucker's electrical, but I need a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity I need."
