K5 Camper. My offroad home away from home.

Well boys and girls, my suspicion about the trans problem was confirmed today. My buddy Ron (fellow K5 Camper owner too) came over this morning to help yank the trans out of the truck. A couple of hours later it was on the driveway and the secrets showed themselves. The input bearing to...

    2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2

Cue the Typical GM hate…. Anybody price out a Raptor lately? A ZR2 Colorado starts at $40k and can go over $50k with options. Face it, special versions are going to fetch a premium over more pedestrian versions. GM is no different than Ford or Ram in this regard. TRX Rams for $100k...

    2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2

They sell an F150 Tremor version too. I didn't know until I passed one on the highway. Saw the badge on the bedside and had to look it up when I got home.

    Larry's 1978 K10

I love the pics as always. Bummed I missed out on WRT. Bill's legend grew cruising WRT in the dark. Such an animal. Makes me get itching for the next run. I pick up the transmission Friday. Booyah!

    GMT800 builds

Pretty simple combination. 6” lift (many choices good and bad). Trim where the tires rub. Pack spare axle shafts and tie rod ends if actually intend on hitting even moderately challenging trails. You also really need to thing about regearing to account for the larger tire size. It’s often...

    Larry's 1978 K10

The issue with the aftermarket TBI would be if it controls the EVAP purge and vent solenoids. The factory setup will wait to purge fumes until you are at a part throttle cruise type scenario. I haven't researched the aftermarket systems enough to know if they can facilitate the EVAP...

    Larry's 1978 K10

Back when these trucks were new and carrying big, heavy overhead hard side campers or anything heavy breaks like this were more common. I don’t think you see it as much any more because not many folks are as nutty as we are to take Squarebody trucks loaded with campers out on the trail. It...

K5 Camper. My offroad home away from home.

Yep we were running around Kofa. Nick and his son were out guides for the area since they have been there a lot. It was a good trip that was just what the doctor ordered.

K5 Camper. My offroad home away from home.

Thanks! The truck the trans came from was high mileage unit that had a rollback wrecker body on it. It was from the mountains in the northwest part of Colorado. So it didn’t have an easy life. We were actually in western az north and south of Quartzsite. Fun area

    Larry's 1978 K10

Man that was the craziest day on the trail I’ve ever experienced. You could have picked my jaw off the ground when I saw the box separate from the cab. Jody was the common sense lifeline we needed to stop us from overthinking the problem. Thinking about what could have been after the fact...

K5 Camper. My offroad home away from home.

Got some work to do to the home on wheels. The used nv4500 decided to start hurting itself on the trip to AZ. I need to replace it as it growls like running rocks through a blender. So while I need to do that I've got some other things to do while it's laid up. My front springs are...

Don't matter if it is worth that much, he ain't selling. Hell, he just put new shoes on it. Between family and work, he's a busy boy.

    Desert Turtle - M1010 Build

Man I understand getting stuff out of the garage before moving to the next stage. I've moved to Denver to help out my Dad and all my personal stuff is in the garage where I could be working on my K5 out of the weather. My buddies want to take another trip in a couple of months and I've got...

    Desert Turtle - M1010 Build

I've slept a couple of times since you shifted gears on the project. Moving forward with a regear or regear with drivetrain swap to what you had already picked up? I remember you had the 454 laying in wait but wanted to maintain mechanical simplicity by sticking with a carb.

    Desert Turtle - M1010 Build

While it sucks to have a setback in the plan to swap the box over to the Dodge, I'm excited to see it moving forward on the CUCV.

1970 Ford Bronco w/ FWC in Florida

55K for that? I know early Broncos are white-hot right now but not like that. Calling anything a "project" at that price is just insanity. I find the same thing when I'm looking for similar K5 Blazers with FWC campers on them. Here's the problem. 95% of the true Bronco Collectors wants...

    Squarestream

Wow. Stumbled across this and zipped through the whole thread. Impressive is not a strong enough word on what you accomplished. There aren’t many choices for the old S-series platform and what little there was don’t have the versatility yours does. So you say it gained about 500ish pounds...

Guess who's back!?! Atl-atl's K5 Blazer + Four Wheel Camper "The Crawlin Cabin" documentation thread!

Pretty crazy how it got to Ohio and you still got the opportunity to buy it back. That’s some kind of sign.
