According to what I've read, no diesel with the AT4. Same as the new Z71Tahoe not getting the diesel. Not sure why as there hasn't been any reason given that I've found yet.
Thanks sir! The Chalet's are pretty cool too. Just too tall and long for the trails I like to take. I'd love the extra room but not at the expense of height and increased CG. I'm pushing my luck with some of the trails I've been on with this setup for sure.
Here's some of the amateur videos I've taken over the trips we've taken.
Hell's Revenge- Moab
Flat Iron Mesa- Moab
Rimrocker and La Salle Pass= CO & UT
Red Cone Pass- CO
Medano Pass and The Great Sand Dunes- CO
I've been wheeling with Bill since we moved back to CO from Detroit in 2003. He's got skill and a level of no fear that sometimes is scary to follow him. It's uncanny how he just knows where the corners of the truck are. Don't matter if it was his Ram 2500 or his Tacoma, he just knows. Now I...
Final trip for the season before the snow flew was a simple one. My nephew had asked to go on one of our runs since he's never been off road before. My buddies Bill and John had a weekend free to go out for an overnighter to see some of the leaves changing. We decided to head south and hit up...
Pictures have a way of doing that. The freakiest part? Sitting in the driver's seat looking over the big hood and only seeing the horizon off in the distance. It's like standing on a high dive and not being able to look down. I can thank my spotter below who had much more Moab experience...
Thanks Lance. Funny thing is about calling it old iron and my mind has this mental block thinking that it's old. To me, it's not, but in reality it's 29 years old. Hell, it was built a year before I graduated HS. When I think of old iron I think of my 69 Nova or my Dad's 57 Chevies.
I know...
We chose to run Hell's Revenge for our first trail ride. We were cautious as the CG of both our Blazers with campers made things a little more tippy than normal. Even with a couple of bypasses we had a lot of fun and showed the campers could crawl with them.
We hung out at one of the hot...
My pooch and I met up with our Jeep buddies and family up on Rainbow lake outside of Westcliffe Colorado. By now I had camp setup down to a few minutes from parking to top up, stove ready and sitting in my chair with a cold one in hand. One of my buddies was still setting up a tent and just...
We also added a fixed basket for extra cargo, fuel/water cans or other goodies.
I also wanted to re-configure the lower bench/storage we had put together for the '18 desert trip. I leaned on a co-worker with cabinetry skills that I lack. The reconfigured bench now has an added flap to...
The 2018 Desert trip was less technical than the previous year, but very high on being remote. I still managed to break a front axle shaft on the last day of camping on the beach at Lake Powell. But the previous year's fuel stalling issue was fixed with a new fuel pump and new chunk of rubber...
This isn't a build thread. In as much as another way to track what's been done as I go along. From work to upgrade to being out in the wild with it. I've got a full blow by blow build over on CK5.com if you want to go down that rabbit hole, but I'll start out with the 50,000-foot overview...
I'm running one of the smallest FWC campers they've ever made and I can't see me taking mine out for more than a couple of weeks at a time. But I can see if a guy, his girl and a dog are going to full time it needing to have more of the "comforts of home" than I have. Yes it's 3 times the size...
That's the largest radiator used in a squarebody truck over the duration of the production run from 73-87. It's UUUGE.
It's pretty popular to swap one of them in to maximize cooling capacity in a square regardless of the powerplant under the hood. Those two upper brackets and top plate to...
I'd plan on changing the fluid since it's all an unknown. However, don't choke when you see the price per quart. You only want GM synthetic manual transmission fluid. Castrol and Amsoil have compatible fluids too but they are no less cheaper.
They won't void the entire vehicle warranty. They can terminate the warranty for just the powertrain. I know, I've done it in the past when I was at GM in Detroit. They have a bulletin with very specific instructions on how to begin the process. As of right now they are not reporting the...
Diesel emissions is still in a very early stage of development. Advancement in the electronics and new technology will help clean them up. For any of the old farts around here take a trip down memory lane and try to remember what the late 70's up through the 80's were like for emissions...
Sounds like somebody before you probably used the spacers for the bolts to the t-case cross member and used them to space it down. Pretty common thing to do, but the wrong way to do it. If they are the round spacers I'm thinking of, they are actually supposed to go between the bolt head and...
