So I guess it was too good to be true for us Mitsu Guys to have our own forum..I guess it was a little slow anyway. Here's a few pics from a Short trip to big bear this past weekend. The trails were crowded but it was still fun. Got to take my project 89 out on some rough stuff..
OK Here's...
2000
2000 was the last year of the Gen 2.5 in the US. It has the 3.5 24V SOHC which is a good engine. We refer to the 98-2000 as the gen 2.5 and the main difference is the bulging fenders which differ from the 92-97 models. These were available with a cold weather package that included the...
pully
Its most likely one of your idler pulleys. You cant see the water pump from the outside, its under the timeing belt cover(s) and driven off the timing belt. So the two pulleys your looking at are the idlers. The Idlers are known to get noisey when the bearings start to deteriorate. The...
Got this from an Australian forum. I figured some may have missed Misterbishi's post in another thread. Looks like we will very soon have ARB's available for all mitsu axles with the exception of the small front. This means we'll be able to lock a Gen 3 front and rear...Hmmmm..the wheels are...
front bumper
Had some leftover steel from the rear bumper I built for my LWB a few years back. I decided to build a front bumper out of the leftover. More to follow

No plans for a SAS as of yet but I have not ruled it out. The IFS on these rigs is fairly stout (for IFS). Seems to be able to handle up to 35's without much issue. I have some part to beef it up a bit, but I have not yet gotten to that.
removed the T case and installed the 2.85 gears...
next mod
Since I upgraded the rear brakes to disks I decided to upgrade the fronts to 96 units as well. The gen 2's have Dual piston calipers and a larger shoe.

here you can see the difference in hardware. 89 stuff on top, 96 stuff on the bottom:

next mod
This was by far the most bang for my buck mod I got done. I saw this 96 Montero rear end on Ebay, so I placed a minimum bid of 100 bucks on it. I did not think I would win, but I was the only bidder and scored.
With this bolt in swap I gained the following:
-Larger axles, diff...

I needed more clearance so I went down the street to Americas tires and got a new set of shoes..cost me more than the truck:sombrero:
15x8 AR Mojaves with 33x12.50 MTR's.
These fit nicely with a little tweak of the tortion bars and little trim of the plastic bumper end caps.
