That's awesome. I am excited about this trip but wow, 10 day, 1,000 miles, that's averaging 100 miles per day. That is definitely moving right along. :D
As for the gauges, they are a custom made set of EGT/Boost/Trans gauges made by Speed Hut. As goodtimes pointed out, I too have lost vehicles due to the thickness of the factory A pillar. A pillar is off the table. It's pouring rain right now so I didn't take any pics of my dash but found...
This truck has got to be the most frustrating vehicle I have owned (of 44) for doing interior modifications. Dodge really didn't leave a lot of area to add anything, especially with the dash. First off, the '94-'97 has got to have the worst cup holders ever designed into a truck. You can only...
I run 245/75-16 tires on my Cherokee with 3" lift, with corrected bump stops and I sure know I would not be able to put a larger tire on without rubbing issues. You can trim the fenders for more clearance but I did not want to do that.
I would consider a 4.5" RE lift with that tire size.
Let me just say that I am in total awe by this build and journey. I can't even wrap my head around this build, let alone the time frame in which it was built in. You are a true craftsman.
Please continue sharing about your build up and your trip(s). They are very inspiring to say the least...
Congrats on the new truck. Sounds like you made a smart choice (even if I am anti Ford) in getting a new truck versus dealing with problems that older, used trucks would have... and they all do have some problems.
Cool deal.
I am assuming you are driving over to the start of ECDD, unless you are planning to already be over in that area. If you are driving over, I likely would be able to drive over at the same time.
Let me know how plans develop and if need be, we can take things to email to plan.
Sorry I didn't get these sooner but been out of town/busy the last couple weeks. Here's the pics of how far the tiregate sits out,
And onto my next project, OBA system. After a bunch of research, the PUMA compressor seemed to be a good value. I had an idea where I wanted to put it but...
Ah, your gate makes sense now. I am so used to seeing bi-fold gates that I figured it was that kind. Your style rocks for that purpose. I love that you can lower it vertically and not have to lift the spare up or down.
Hey Robb, I remember us talking briefly about GV units when I had my M1010. Having sold it, I never moved forward with that project but I looked at all the options and the GV unit seemed to be the best and easiest way to go. I went to GV and looked at the unit and talked to them. It's a solid...
First question is, would a standard cab work as well for your travels/work? I know for us, there is not enough room in a standard cab, so that would make the choice very easy and that's coming from a guy currently owning a standard cab ('65 C10) and extra cab truck ('97 Ram).
Another thing to...
With that idea in mind, I would make a "hinged" mount for the spare that when you have the deck "stored" the tire would be flat against it but when you put the deck down, you would rotate the spare so it would be standing up at the rear of the deck. This way you get almost full use of the deck...
I switched all my camper lighting over to LED and can't be happier. I have no fear on how long I leave the lights on. They are bright enough for what we need to do. In theory, should outlast the camper. No heat output, doesn't attract bugs nearly as much and shouldn't have any issues with...
