Congrats! Looking good and looks like a rad spot. I loved the canadian campgrounds that were supplying firewood during my trips!
Sorry to hear the Hydronic nightmare continues!
I’ve regeared one truck myself in my life and would NEVER do it again...
BUT... if you’re handy with a wrench and have some skill (or friend with some) most of the different gear ratios are actually available through the RAM dealer parts department.
Most shops won’t install gears they don’t...
I will try this for sure and see what happens. As of now, fully loaded i am averaging 12.5mpg-ish, which i am super happy with.
But if the 2000k range is even better as you mention, that makes the claims of folks running 3.7whatever even crazier
For a diesel, the Cummins sweet spot for optimum efficiency/power is 1700-1800 rpm.
With 4.89s and 41s and the Aisin AS69RC 6 speed, I’m right at 1750 at 65mph.
im guessing with 3.73s, they’re floating around 1200rpm or so at 65mph.
Less than ideal for everything really, especially if towing...
Im going to guess it’s simply that people don’t know any better.
I ordered my Ram 5500 (with Cummins) with 4.89 gearing because I knew I’d be running 41”
It does pretty well and after dialing in the speedo the granny shifts perfectly.
With that being said, it could still be improved a little...
Thank you sir! Its my mid life crisis build! I've done everything else in between, so now its time to go big! Literally! Hahahaha
Yes, i could rant about FWC quality for pages and pages... The ONE huge glowing issue i'd address before you even use it, is the WIRING!!!!!
I'd STRONGLY...
I am in the early stages of planning to possibly build a large DIY lithium bank and found this on my search.
Great info
I have a single 300ah battery now and it will run the AC nicely for a couple hours to cool down the box, but it limits me to doing much else.
Yup! The FWC furnace and its ridiculous amount of non stop issues was one of the many reasons i sold my FWC fairly quickly.
The pre-2018 seem to be extremely reliable and the 2018+ ones are giant problematic turds
Love everything about this build!
Word of unsolicited advice... Ditch the entire turnbuckle idea, regardless of brand or method and hard mount it through the floor of the camper to the bed.
I had a FWC hawk and after breaking the factory turnbuckles, i upgraded to beefier ones, and bent the...
The female ends are already ready to go under the hood at the aux switch distribution block. No additional parts are needed.
Beautifully done mods and truck sir! Love the color scheme!
@svinyard I’ve used it a lot now, so my feedback is from real world now.
I’m a big fat guy that drinks a lot of beer and eats crappy food. My turds are bigger and stinkier than most.
With that said, I am baffled and super happy with the fact I have ABSOLUTELY ZERO stink whatsoever. I even let...
For anyone interested... (posting here before the classifieds section, which is a comedy show i dont have time or patience to deal with)
I am selling a basically new Tern Overland aka Arctic Tern 300x700mm window...
I installed it, wanted a bigger window, and removed it. Its basically new, no...
I dont have any insights into that claim. But what i do know, is there is no way of monitoring or limiting the charge if its direct...
It also says the battery is rated to a max charge rate of 150 amps or so
If my dual alternators are capable of 440amps and the Lifeblue SOC is down to 50%, i...
