Hi Mike, great build up!!!
Since I have read a few other threads about who to get the Seitz windows from (Darrin at RUF) but one thing I have not been able to find any pictures of is how the shade/screen system works. I am very seriously considering these for our M1010 build but before I drop...
5100's are great shocks and would be the series I would go with. The HD series is still way better than most other shocks out there but the aluminum body of the 5100's help to disapate heat better. 5160's are sweet and likely what I will go with for my M1010 project, since it has more oil...
Buy a set of Bilsteins and that will be the last set you will ever need to buy for that vehicle unless you make some major suspension changes.
Most less expensive shocks are twin tube design which means they have a very small piston inside so it limits how much dampening they can do and this...
x2
Sounds like a very nice build and would love to see pics of the construction! I am going to need to build a back wall for my M1010 project and your construction sounds like a good way I could go.
I agree with what other are saying. As for the question, "do you have HIDs?" so far I have not ever had them. Have had a lot of offroad lights and typically a 100w bulb works fine if I need it really bright or 55w for street use lights. Nice thing, if the bulb goes out, I can easily swap a...
GoJeep is where I got the idea to use airbags on the rear suspension. Used his idea of flipping the upper mount due to having a lift installed.
Very cool stuff there.
@Brian, man, can't believe you haven't been to his site before. It's almost like required reading for anyone with an XJ. :D...
Opps, didn't even think about the fact I was linking an attachment from SS and you can't view it without being a member. :Wow1:
I uploaded it to ExPo and fixed my link above so you should be able to see it. It was 100dollar man who did it. Used a lift kit from OffroadDesigns.com. Here is...
Thanks for the info and comments. As for paint, for the time being, it will stay camo but may get repainted at some point. Might just do the solid green color. Who knows.
As for tires, I am kind of leaning to the Bridgestone Dualer REVO 2's as I have the REVO on my Cherokee and LOVE them...
Actually those the BFG's that came on them are trashed (that's the spare and even it has a sidewall gash) but they are D range. I haven't decided on what I am going to replace them with. I basically bought the package for the wheels. Tires won't go on until after the lift.
So this weekend was nothing glamorous but badly needed. Changed the oil and filter, removed all the cooling system hoses, flushed the block, radiator and heater core, installed all new hoses and fresh Catipillar ELC coolant. I think the cooling system had never been touched (with 54K on the...
I saw that tire lift adapter used in a training class I attended at Overland Expo last year. Definitely a cool way to get a wheel up to get rocks under it as the suspension doesn't just flex out until it maxes out. I'll have to add one of those.
Mine arrived today! Thanks a bunch, like discribed, box looks like crap but brand new plastic wrapped unit.
Hope you get you place dried out and back to normal.
I'm in a similar boat with my new M1010 project. Like I say, I might end up putting $15-20K into it when all said and done but to go out and buy something equivilant, ready to go, I'm looking at closer to $100K. Heck I'm saving a bunch of money AND I will know how it all goes together so I can...
Sounds like most projects honestly. I have only made money on a handful of the 42 vehicles I have owned. You do it for your needs/desires and the love of doing it, not as an investment.
Good luck on whatever you end up with but don't think of this as a money making effort. Do it for the cool...
