    2003 BMW X5 (E53) Overland project

Talk to these guys - Sarek Autowerke - they are doing cool things with X5's. Some late model Range Rover suspension parts will bolt in (remember BMW owned Land Rover for a while)

    New Defender News

I've known several people that have had pretty major crashes in the various generations of Discoverys and they have always performed well in crashes (especially rollovers). I'm very confident the new generation of D5 and Defender will be pretty safe if things go badly.

I'm planning on applying some 3M anti-slip grip tape on top of the sliders on mine. You can buy it at Home Depot in 2" wide strips.

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

This is the first reference I've seen that the P300 doesn't have the coolers - can anyone elaborate on this? I don't have Instagram so I can't review the post to see what they said. I've got a P300 on order thinking it will be a sweet spot in the Defender line up for other reasons but this might...

    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

I had to run to Home Depot today to pick up an 80" interior door for a project I'm doing in my basement. As I rolled it out to the Discovery 5 I thought how am I going to fit an 80" door into a 77" load space? By running the passenger seat forward and tilting the seat back forward I was...

Yeah that really sucked, so now it's replacement is due around the first of October. I decided to delete the sunroof on the second try as I realize how little I use the one in the D5. The roughsawn ash looked very artificial and much lighter in color than it looks on the configurator too.

    New Defender News

I've driven a P300 and it was very comfortable at 80 mph with plenty in reserve. It didn't seem sluggish off the line with three of us on board and like you I'm going for the simpler specification. I'd already be driving it if it had the tow package that somehow got deleted from the build so...

    Old series Land Rover?

1966 109" diesel Series IIA wagon with over 400K miles on it - owned since 1978 and 1967 Series IIA 88" pickup that is undergoing a frame up Porsche quality restoration. I bought the 88" the first time in 1973 - sold it in 1978 - regretted it immediately and finally tracked it down in 1993. It...

Are there any good fully enclosed travel trailers?

I had a 17' Escape - very nice trailer but it was more trailer than I needed for my typical weekend trips. My Discovery 5 towed it without an issue but it was too heavy for my Defender 90 diesel and I typically take the Defender on my camping trips. So I decided to sell it back in January and go...

    Defender 110 - buyers guide

Check to make sure it's got a stubby 380 gearbox so you can do the Robert Davis six cylinder Chevy engine swap. Other than that check frame, firewall and doors for rust.

    New Defender News

I've got several hundred comfortable nights in my Maggiolina and I agree with the above assessment. Autohome builds a first rate product, I haven't had a single issue with mine that wasn't owner induced. That overhanging tree was not the roof tents fault but the beauty of a fiberglass shell is...

LR3 upgrades options what to do

Rock Sliders are always the first upgrade that I recommend - it will be the first accessory fitted to my new 110 when it arrives in October.

    New Defender News

Most head gasket failures in the early engines were directly related to the cooling system. The radiator core fills with sediment from the bottom up so in my experience getting the radiator rodded out before the 110K mark has a very positive effect on head gasket life. That and replacing the...

    New Defender News

I met a guy in England that had over 350,000 miles on his two door Range Rover Classic - the amazing thing was that the heads had never been off the motor. That was back in the 1980's, if he's still got the truck its probably got a million miles on it. My 1966 Series IIA diesel 109" wagon has...
