I recall hearing that now that you mention it about running under water. Also the low speed torque is great. I wonder though if you put the fuel economy into miles per dollar, is the diesel much different from my Tundra at 15 mpg? At say $3.85 per gallon, that's 25.67 ¢ per mile. What kind...
Ditto.
The real question is why the infatuation with diesel? What will you be able to do with a diesel that you couldn't do with a Toyota gas engine like the 2uzfe?
How many of you have rear window hinges that look like this?
Well I did too, but now they look like this:

Several things I forgot to mention. Somewhere along the way, before I left Florida, that rickety looking exhaust fell apart and I lost a few of the pieces. No problem, was too quiet anyway. So I just added a turn down and it sounds great in the cab with the windows down and still quiet enough...
You can also just use your cross pin that locks the hitch into the reciever. Just run it through the loop in you tie down to secure the loop inside the receiver, nothing else to buy or carry or store. Same strength and securely fastened.
The front tow hook on my tundra bent the bottom part...
Would it have been easier to loosen the bolts holding the bed down and then lift the bed up a few inches? Or remove the bed altogether? Fuel filler seems like the only real difficult thing to undo and redo.
If you adjust your side mirrors so that when you lean your head left/right, you can just barely see the left/right edge of the truck, then you basically eliminate your blind spots. I put dirtbikes in the back of my truck often so the topper just sits along the side of my garage now. I did...
Cab high definitely, never like the ones that step up higher. Side tool boxes are great too, I love mine although mine is a metal top. I think Fiberglass tops look much nicer and smoother.
Looks good. Interesting design with that back hoop being a separate piece. Does that allow it to angle upwards easier? How high can it go before interfering with the door opening?
A long as the engine is running while pulling, should be no problem. Also as was mentioned, winch needs time to cool, and that will give the battery time to recharge. Some folks use a bit of bicycle cable and a shifter to raise the idle up hand/foot free.
Not entirely sure what you mean here, but I do like square tubing for the high lift compatibility. Also i like the idea of a rear kick out making a step to reach stuff in the bed.
Nice! I drag the hitch on mine from time to time too. The only real issue is the 7 pin trailer light outlet, that mount has been bent back and forth a few times. I should probably cut a hole in the bumper and mount it up higher. Or just get a new rear bumper...
Time to get back to work on the mods right? Right.
Let there be light!
Needed a better way to tie down my bike and my girl's bike at the same time in the bed. I was planning to put a board along the front of the bed that I could mount tie downs to, and make some side to side wheel chocks...
The following is a slideshow depicting home much I love my life in Redmond Oregon, I hope it's not too boring to scroll through...
Still clawing her way through!
