    LR3 rock crawling carnage

First, nice pics. Second, I'm sure Bilstien would like that strut back for failure analysis. Six thousand miles is not much. I've read of Bilstien failures on stock 4WD systems. Thanks for the warning!

    iOS 9 released today

Further clarity ..... Passport's OS is QNX that support a Runtime for APK that runs Java/Dalvik. Libraries included in the Google Android SDK are supported. If an app uses libraries not in the Google Android SDK, support is not guaranteed or even functional. There are 3rd party add-ons that...

    iOS 9 released today

Not surprised on iOS issues. Android is very fragmented and a security disaster. Both are relatively old that may be reaching the limits of their architectures. Personally I have moved to Blackberry 10, QNX and Passport. Blackberry's latest product announcement, Priv, looks interesting from a...

    Looking for vehicle GPS Solution

Regret staying with Android for so many years. But Blackberry was slow to react to the changing mobile phone landscape and paid the price. That said, it will turn out to be the best thing that happened to them. Acquiring QNX for OS, focusing on security and recent acquisitions puts them on a...

    Looking for vehicle GPS Solution

On GPS accuracy, at least for Blackberry Passport: BlackBerry Passport Smartphone Review "......Communication & GPS It is pleasing that BlackBerry has treated the Passport to a large portfolio of wireless communication options, such as dual-band Wi-Fi including all standards up to high-speed...

iPad Pro vs Surface Pro 4

Which is what Blackberry does with Android apps, except virtualization is nearly native. I say "nearly" only because they emulate today with true virtualization mentioned in several articles on QNX. Virtualization serves the enterprise security requirements while isolating the toy/game stuff of...

iPad Pro vs Surface Pro 4

Hmmmm ....... "iPad Pro vs Surface Pro 4" The thread is about two product offerings, one from Microsoft, the other from Apple. Competition in a changing and consolidating market. Microsoft exec presents at Apple show. Apple runs MS10. MS10 runs Apple. Just virtualize it and let me pick the...

iPad Pro vs Surface Pro 4

Actually carriers initiated the move away from the subsidy model. Apple/Google/BB are simply reacting to the demise of the subsidy model. Why Carriers Are Moving Away From Subsidized Cell Phones Bloomberg Apple measure success by the bottom line. Their market share has been declining. Upgrade...

iPad Pro vs Surface Pro 4

Success of Apple's latest product announcement is dependent on the new installment plan, not technology.

    Range Rover vs LR4

Ah, same here. Two of us + Husky + Misc depending on what we are doing. Can't imagine less space. LR4 is perfect as you can level out the 2nd and 3rd row seats and have room for dog + stuff. In fact our 2/3rd row seats were in cargo mode for the last 2 months. Just reconfigured it last night...

I would stay away from superchargers. Boost = higher stress = lower reliability

First post 2000 RR 4.0 head gasket replacement

Auction = multiple issues Never seen an engine push air out between head and block, to the point you could feel it. Cracked or something else creating the air pressure? A really really poor shade tree mechanic had been in there?

    Atlantic British / Roverparts.com offer long blocks. I would also give D&D Fabrications / AluminumV8 a call.

Have to agree with ATT. From their perspective an unlimited data Hotspot would potentially be an issue for infrastructure.

ATT launches mobile hotspot for your vehicle

Not sure I want to add Wifi to my ODBII/Canbus. In addition many ODBII port placements are not conducive to having a dongle sticking out.

    LR3 search

Here's my thinking. LR3 was a complete redesign. LR4 leveraged the LR3 as a upscale and move to complete JLR power plant. Engine came from Jag. In summary I don't think early LR4's have teething issues like the LR3 did.

Seriously considering a Land Rover again.

Later model LR3 or any LR4. D1 or D2's did require more maintenance and did have issues with the old Buick engine. Those days are gone. As always, with ANY vehicle / manufacturer, a pre-owned purchase requires some due diligence on your part as to whether maintenance was done.
