We seem to be really lacking on build threads around here lately, maybe everyone is out enjoying instead of building..at that would be great. So i thought i would share my take on building a 170 Sprinter 4x4. You can see my build thread for 2020 AWD Transit i did (which i stupidly sold) as a...
I like everything i see, with one exception.. the way the did the windows in the poptop. i see exterior roll up which i think is the clear plastic for when its raining with velcro. then inside i see roll down which i assume is fabric for black out curtain. my problem is having been around the...
all my friends who switched to lithium starting batteries on thier motos eventually switched back to AGM, weight be damned. not up to the task. but the worst part for starting in all modern lithium is cold weather reliability. since they cant be charge below 0C (32F) but can be discharged down...
its 100% a spacekap, ever since i moved to Quebec and saw them on all the contractor trucks here (never saw one in the US) i have been dreaming of building one. they beat me to it i guess. i dont think spacekap makes even a tacoma size one let alone a gladiator size, which i now own. should have...
totally agree. not sure it will happen though. from all the batteries ive looked at now, the battle born is the only one ive seen that has the heater to function 100% internally and manually controlled and would work in above scenario. every other manufacture seems to use an incoming charge...
there is absolutely ZERO reason to keep water in your camper, whether it is in the holding tanks or in separate mobile containers, unless you are actually camping. which for most of society is a very small percent of the time since most people work (im usually working 7 days a week, my time off...
as I stated, but apparently need to state again-- no water in my equation since i am very anti water system well below zero (shoulder temps is fine). None of this is hard ;)
so here is the response i got from from Volthium Batteries: "
"The battery will go into self-heating mode when it is not at 100% and when the battery passes under the freezing point. The battery heats up with external current so if you are in Quebec and the vehicle is in your parking lot and...
you can still draw down/use the batteries when they are below freezing, to a certain temp which i think is -4F for battle born (other vary). so you can still run the furnace, you just will not be putting energy that is used back into the battery until it is above 32F. for sure this would work...
Oh, I was shop manager for Four wheel campers for many many years. i am VERY ANTI keeping water in a plumbed system in freezing temps. use your holding tanks as much as you want 3 of 4 seasons of the year, not winter unless you are willing to deal with consequences. its not a house--no...
well, that question is answered, here is the response from Battle born:
"The BMS in the Battle Born will not allow a charge below 25F, but the heat circuit would warm the battery whether or not the battery is being charged.
We give you the option to enable and disable the heat circuit. When it...
better bring that van back to quebec--need to meet up sometime-ha. I am still sold that AGM's are better for this climate, if i still lived in CO probably lithium no doubt. BUT, i am open to the people who know more than me to change my mind so i can stop trying to change other peoples minds as well
i have an email into Battle born. phone calls get $$ internationally-ha. i will post what they say. Redarc is always very helpful and top notch product. I always kept my FWC with AGM's plugged in for storage and like you said--top off before trip. why my batteries always lasted so long
hmm, if that is the case, that the heater is ONLY active when it senses a charge, then you have a good point. BUT, i have read and watched all the videos on battleborn more times than i can count and from what i see this is simply not true. from the battle born site:
"The heater will be...
Hoping someone can enlighten me on if Lithium/LifePo4 house batteries are really the best choice in my situation. I currently live in Quebec where we see colder than 32f/0c for months on end. 32F is the average charging threshold for lithium’s as we know. In the past when I lived in Colorado I...
this van is off on adventures with its new owner. I have another on order that i will 100% for sure be keeping for myself, but that order and delivery date is a whole other discussion/frustration. what is that saying "the cobblers kids dont have shoes", yeah--that works here.
listed my Four Wheel Camper set up for sale now that my vacation has come to an end. the van is dangerously close to becoming a permanent member of the family, just saying
ive built many sprinters, and a transit and worked on a sprinter last week again. i prefer to build the transit honestly. upfit companies are going to be able to charge more for sprinter work, mostly because people are all enamored with the 3 pointed star and throw tons more $$ around them. So...
