Sold it this past summer, wife started driving it a few years ago and she wanted something a little smaller. Got her into a GTI now :)

Thanks! That is exactly the plan, smaller, narrower tire with the spacers removed. I have no need for so much lift, nor that wide of tires for the types of trails we have out here.

Very nice!! I think its going to come down to individual cars, since I honestly can't decided on a 1st or 2nd gen, I am just going to find the nicest one that fits into my budget.

^^ excellent points, and one thing I've learned is that sometimes its better to go with the less rare model since its easier to find body parts etc for it. If I dent up a quarter panel, fender etc on a 2-door its going to be tough to find a junkyard replacement, probably not as much with a 4...

Thanks for all the great information, what you mentioned above is what I think I am going to go with in either 2 or 4. A 2 door will certainly be cool if I can find one in decent shape but I am not set on it. I'll definitly post up whatever I end up getting :smiley_drive:
