The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Toyota can play with names all they want I think proof is in the pudding, lets see how they are built. I've always dreamt of a 70 pickup, my dream rig. Looks like the base model has a 4 cyl diesel + auto now which I am sure with ruffle some feathers. Last time I was in Aus you know what those...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Hype and fan boy driven - there is a reason, that reason is it's a "Landcruiser" and has a reputation, which was my point all along. High end rigs are generally expensive to maintain, it's always been that way, especially ones that you can rebuild parts on vs replace parts on. Rebuild birfs on...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

I negative as some here think I've been....we don't know that yet. I'm awaiting judgement until we see the specs and some of the LC guys gets their hands on one and start to dissect it, it may very well be built to a higher durability standard than the current Prado/GX line we currently get.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

And drivetrain strength and brake size, these are engineered packages it takes all the pieces to = tow rating. I think we've come to expect a certain amount of performance out of to rigs that is exceptional, but just a few years ago a 1T rig had less power and torque than many midsize rigs do...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Maybe 'giving away' was a bit strongly worded - 2 years ago I'd of had it sold in a week, now I just get spam and guys wanting to trade me dogs and rifles.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Dirtbikes are sim, 2023 models (1 year old now) are or at least were being sold for $2-3k off a $11k bike....which in turn has been destroying the used bike market, ask me how I know. I can't give my damn 2022 away.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Solid! I bought my 78' FJ40 in the early 2000's for $7k, sold it for $12k in 2016 and thought I was in the money, couldn't touch that for less than $30k now, nuts. I saw that Lexus - I've seen some 80's on BAT bring in ~$40k, which is probably about what they originally sold for, $90k is nuts.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

I bought my Tacoma for $15k in 2001 with 35k on the clock, 5 spd, TRD, I miss it every day.....sold it for $14k with 150k....thing felt solid. I had it sold within a day after 20 emails, guy showed up with an envelop full of cash. My dad had a Ranger at the same time, bought for $12kish, sold...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

You need to go look at the used LC market if you think that....but that was kind of my point, consumers spend big $ on big mile LC's, the word is out....I won't do it, but the legacy is there.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

I have a buddy with 400k on his Tacoma, I had 150k on mine, awesome rigs zero issues and still felt pretty tight, I sold mine for what I bought it for.....but my 3rd buddy had nothing but issues, why, because he was using it as a farm truck and beating the hell out of it, constant tie-rods...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

I brought it up several posts back, speaks to how vehicles are viewed in second/thirdhand markets, there is a reason don't you think? Sorry I hurt your feelings, I'm obviously not alone based on other feedback.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

And it probably has resale value of $750! I don't buy any high mile rig and think current prices of LC's are stupid....but people out there spend $20k for a rig that they have no idea how to maintain properly. Parts for 40/60/80's are getting harder and harder to come buy but it goes to show...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Lost me - but full size LandCruisers, including 70's, are still very popular in the ME. Prado's are great - probably work for most people, are comfortable and reasonably priced, I'd drive one in a heartbeat, but my comments still hold true, they are not built the same. If that bugs you that...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

You disagree they are engineered different? They are. Your use case and perceptions are your own, mine maybe be different. It's is incorrect to say they are engineered excessively - that depends on use case and be careful with your words, if we find out this has HD axles, I guess it isn't the...

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

People travel overseas in Unimogs and the most traveled overlanders, Turtle Expedition, has used full size NA Trucks for what, going on 40 years? I don't disagree with you, honestly, I'd be scared, but people make it work!

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

It's much more than an addendum in name. I don't think any of the backlash, real or perceived (even from me) is real until we get the specs.....that will tell the story. The current GX460 vs LC200 are nowhere near the same vehicle from an engineering perspective.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Is Coming Back To America

Zero interest in driving a 25-30 year old rig that is getting harder and harder to find parts for....but they are $40k for a REASON, no mid 90's Explorer is even on the road anymore let alone selling for more than original price with 100,000 miles on it. Now I may not agree with the reason, but...
