A fridge is one of the best mods I’ve done to my truck for overland style travel. The problem for me was I could cover all of my power needs if I was moving every day, letting the ICE catch up,the overnight depletion. Occasionally we’d find that spot we wanted to be in for multiple days, usually...
Here is the data sheet for the 100/20

The 100v is open circuit voltage. Data sheet says 290w nominal Panel (PV) at 12v. 20a is max charge current.
Solar...
Look at the individual ratings of the solar panels. They will tell you max voltage the panel can produce at max wattage. That’s the limiting factor of the voltage input. Above that the unit will trip internal protections.
Max amperage is the sum of all the wattage of the panels divided by the...
Especially looking in this forum thread [emoji23]
REI used to carry quite a bit of snow peak, beyond the backpacking stuff, but with the Portland US HQ stocking, the website is fairly reliable source.
Thanks for the tips, I picked up a paper towel holder too. I’ve thought about it many times and couldn’t find one. Better grab it now.
I like the idea of that table. That could replace the IGT short bamboo I keep in my truck and be a lot more versatile. I’ll have to keep an eye for a refresh...
I use the Oztent poles on mine. Drill a small hole at the end of the two legs for the post.
I frequently use my RV-5 as an annex for the awning and had a sail maker modify the RV/5 caravan connector to “boot” up to the Velcro on the Shadow.
The only thing I didn’t like is the RV-5 doesn’t...
I’m interested - can you advise shipping to 01983? I can PayPal
And I’m interested in how you mounted the maxtrax in the 2nd photo. That’s precisely what I’m looking to do
BTW, I just this past weekend got done swapping a 7 year old Luna Smart separator for a BlueSea ML-ACR which is rated for the environment and up to the task of >100A service. If you ditch the lifePo4, consider using that as the smart separator/isolator.
Have another look at the ratings for the victron stuff. I’m not sure any of it is rating for The underhood heat loading you’d see in an engine bay. I’ve not looked specifically, but I wouldn’t put a victron MPPT there. I’d do some reading on lifePo4 batteries under hood too... many reports of...
Definitely you should use 2 legs on the corners... I just try to save legs in certain configurations...
The photo above requires 2 legs because it’s using drop extenders and the weight of the bamboo table is on those legs.
When the corner is used on the end and not connected, then it’s...
A friend used to make these and i bought it from him, but TrexBoxx makes them, as does a few others. I really like it... much better than carpet. You can see the one I have has a drip rail and spots to hold cans from sliding.
Thanks! Can’t wait to get out there!
One thing I’d like to do is find another one of thos leg extrusion plates and put a third leg hold in the corner table. This would allow for a bit more stability when deployed on the end of a frame without a connection in a corner. Sometimes I only use on of the holes on the current side...
Once dinner is done, we can transition some of the setup to a lounge area for firepit time:
Using the small bamboo inserts with the holes in the middle, you can use a tall leg and a lantern hanger for dim light. Normally I’d put the firepit out in front there... didn’t have it handy for this...
So I went out and played with my “compact SP setup” comprised of a pair of 2U frames, a short bamboo table and a host of legs and accessories. Allows for a number or interesting combinations. Here’s an overview of the setups I can do:
Here is the short bamboo with the Drifta adjustable legs...
Speaking of which, drifta make some infinitely adjustable SP legs which work like the poles on an oztent or arb awning leg. They are twist lock and not pop-holes like the SP ones... I bought a set for the bamboo table (short) which i I hook directly my tailgate. Works well when the truck isn’t...
I have an autohome air too and I’m considering to buy the front runner telescoping ladder as sometimes even the long ladder doesn’t work if I’ve had to level the truck side to side and my ladder side is higher. I have an awning on the pax side, so ladder always has to be driver.
