Friday Update. I hope you all are looking forward to the weekend! Man this build is making progress. It looks simple, but its a lot of work and I'm tired. Im not sure which is harder, the build or the clean up after each day.
Anyways, today I cut all the wood panels, dremeled the edges, sanded...
Ok, so the framing has been painted and placed back in the camper. Also our sink showed up, so below are some pictures. Tomorrow I’ll be starting on the wood work (panels and counter top).
Thanks! I want the trucks personally to be ”American” for sure. I was originally planning on just applying a clear coat enamel on the raw steel and leave it with the “raw“ look. My wife was not a fan of the idea, so yesterday I painted the steel with a “hammer tone” black paint. Looks super good...
Yea the astroturf was actually super nice, to be honest. It’s nice to walk on and super easy to pull out and wash. It was a temporary thing for me, but I recommend it for people who are willing to try it.
Ok, just got done weighing up the steel frames I made. Total came to 139 lbs. Here is a list of expected future install items and what I’m expecting their weights to be:
*rough guess for now*
1) Wood panels and counter tops: 60-75 lbs
2) Sink & Faucet & hardware: 15 lbs
3) Water Tank (20gal)...
Hey All,
With all this “at home” time I’ve been busy on my Hiatus interior build out. Check out my recent post on our build, many pictures to show progress:

So since I have the Hiatus wiring at each corner of this trunk we had to make some space for them to pass through:
After this we frame out the side the back of the trunk (the part you would see if you where outside of the camper looking into it. You can also see the attachment points we...
Wow, its been awhile since I’ve done an update. With this “lockdown“ going on I’ve had a lot of time on my hands to make good progress with the build. I have been focusing on getting the interior built out. The original idea was to build the interior out of wood to make it feel like a cozy...
I’ve been super busy recently, but I wired up my electrical system finally. Here is a picture of the lights at night. Super nice & the dimmer is perfect. @HiatusCampers I will be shooting a video Thursday. The weather or my schedule has cause a delay in getting the video done, but I promise to...
Quick update: after wheeling with this big truck a few weeks ago I realized I blew out my ball Joints. I replaced them with greaseable “problem solvers.” Also late last night I finally got the electrical connectors I order and I did a quick check of the lights and fan. The Hiatus lights up...
Yea this truck is my first dive into the diesel world. Wrenching on this thing, sometimes I feel like a chicken looking at wrist watch. I’ve been told they are super reliable. Time will tell :)
This is a crapy article to be direct and is wildly over simplifying intellectual property (IP) and the patent system here in the USA, let alone internationally. If you are going to talk about international patenting, forget about it. What GLOBAL data base are US patent attorneys going to check...
@HiatusCampers will for sure build a camper for your 8ft bed. No issues there. Contact them for a quote or to just chat about what they can do in more detail.
Hey All,
Just thought I would share our new project rig here. I’ve named it The Puller Project (named in honor of Lewis Puller). Puller is a very rare beast. He’s a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 L Cummins Turbo Diesel with a High Output Motor and a NON-53 engine block. It has that coveted and illusive...
Hey All. Quick update. We took our 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 and new Hiatus out to the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival. We had a great time! Truck and camper did excellent. Every day that goes by I truly love my Hiatus more and more. Selling our sprinter to do this was the best thing we’ve done in...
We took our 2001 Dodge 2500 & Hiatus Camper @HiatusCampers out to the Sedona Mountain Bike festival this weekend. Good times! Here is a little pic of our rig :)
Update: So we took last weekend to drive up to Sedona to check out the mountain bike festival there. We camped 3 days out in the flats on the west side of Sedona. Weather was perfect and the mountain bike was amazing. If anyone here loves mountain biking technical trails, go to sedona.
We also...
