    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

So I figured out a way to keep them secured on my little trailer. They are mounted under the RTT on the trailer's lid similar to how they're mounted on the Jeep's roof rack. I used four 1/4" fully-threaded 2" long bolts (cut down to 1.75") for each side, along with metal and rubber washers...

    Camping Chair Storage Bag

I'd settle for water resistant. I really like the ARB chairs, but with the solid arms they're a little larger than the Walmart chairs when folded up (which is a good thing). From their website: Folds down to 37” L x 11” W x 8” H I checked out the tripod bags as mentioned above. Found a...

"TrailTop" modular trailer topper building components

I like the idea of the trail dog too. I like the idea of building from the frame up, vs. building a tub on the frame, and then building something on top of the tub (if that makes sense). I might want it a little taller than 4' though. But something like the trail dog built on a 4x8' trailer...

    Camping Chair Storage Bag

I'm retired Army - I've got a couple of those duffle bags in the basement. I was looking for something more "form-fitting"; kinda like the size of the flimsy factory bag the ARB chair came with, but much sturdier. I guess if nobody sells them, I could have a shop that does vinyl boat covers...

    Camping Chair Storage Bag

I've got two of the ARB Camp Chairs (brown ones, without the plastic side tables). I really like the chairs, but I hate the flimsy storage bag they came with. They've already got holes worn through them. Does anyone make a heavy duty camp chair storage bag these would fit in? Maybe even...

    Linktrac, thoughts?

You linked the bridging ladders twice. Need the link to the X-bull recovery tracks.

Will do. Need to find out if I'm going still have a job here shortly.

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

I ordered my second pair of X-Bulls the other day (I ordered the first pair to see if I'd like them - and I did), and they arrived today (that was quick), so now I have two pair (four total) in olive green. So now I am a real Overlander (said tongue in cheek for those diving for the reply...

    Linktrac, thoughts?

Here's a review of some traction devises I found after writing the above comments/post, which includes the linktrac: https://expeditionportal.com/get-a-grip/

    Linktrac, thoughts?

First I've seen of them. Just looking at the website: 1. Looks like it would work for the most part. 2. Looks like it might bury into the mud or soft sand more-so than the gold-standard MaxTrax (or the cheaper X-Bull or whatever other similar type you carry - I'll call them "plastic traction...

    Strapping down a kayak to a roof-rack

I've got some rubber bumper cover things I ordered from NRS to put on the metal latches/cam thingies. Basically $8.00/pair, and I bought two pair. Not the cheapest (the straps themselves were only like $6.00/each), but if it'll protect the kayak then I'm good with them. I have some foam I...

    Strapping down a kayak to a roof-rack

Technically I could move the straps to the outside eye bolts, but I don't want the roof rack edges to act as a fulcrum and cause the kayak to bend (at least using the rear eye bolts). I will keep an eye on it when taking it on its first long road trip.

    Strapping down a kayak to a roof-rack

If the kayak were longer, I could possibly attach the lines to the bumpers (now that you mention it I can see where it would increase the footprint). I had thought of it before. But in the rear at least, I would have to disconnect the lines every time I wanted to access the rear of the Jeep...

    Strapping down a kayak to a roof-rack

Ok, to wrap this thing up (or bring closure to all those wondering how this ends...): I used three NRS 6' "loop" straps (they were plenty long - and I bought a third one the other day), and two 10' lengths of 1/4" rope at the front and rear. I took it for a test drive, and it seems to hold it...

    Air compressor

I think if I were having to use mine twice-a-week, I'd make sure I had a really good one too (like your ARB compressor).

    Air compressor

I always like to have links and pictures to see what folks are talking about (and how much they cost). Prices and pictures are from 4 Wheel Parts just for reference purposes only - if you shop around you might find them cheaper. ARB CKMTP12/Twin...

    Strapping down a kayak to a roof-rack

Was at the Sportsman's Warehouse this afternoon looking for something, and of course I'm wandering the camping isle. Which is right next to the boating area. Saw on the wall they sold the NRS straps (so I don't have to order on-line). So I got a pair of the 6' looped ends (for the kayak), and...

    Strapping down a kayak to a roof-rack

And that's why I'm one of those Coleman/Rubber-maid/Harbor Freight kinda overlanding guys (to a point anyways). Just bought a pair of X-bull ramps (@ $59/pair) because I can't afford (or justify) the MAXTRAX ones for $299/pair (even if they might be a little bit better quality). Gotta spend...

    Strapping down a kayak to a roof-rack

I thought agonizing over just the right part for overlanding was part of the fun? I can't make a decision related to my vehicle (or trailer) unless I: Do a search (on this forum and a google search), start my own thread, weigh the pros-and-cons of the comments received, search for the part...

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

I was on Amazon.com the other day trying to find something else to add to my order to get an add-on thing to qualify before placing my order (you've been there). So I was looking through my "one-of-these-days-I'll-order-this" list, and clicked on the X-Bull traction mats. They were down to...
