Finally recovered enough to go out on an overnighter with a buddy and it sure was fun being back in the Mojave Desert again. Did wonders for my attitude too.
I've seen pictures and read the trip reports you have posted here and on another forum we both belong too. This rig always struck me as one being built by a guy who planned on keeping it forever and built it to go wherever he wanted reliably.

All lever actions share a slim easy to carry profile and intuitive controls. Marlin though ejects out the right side where as Winchester and other throw out the top. A hot as heck 30 30 brass case going down your shirt or landing on a head without a hat is painful.
