    Cheap Harbor Freight Build

We took my little 4' HF type trailer up to Alaska and Canada for a few weeks a couple years ago. The factory short/stiff slipper springs really made the trailer bounce around a lot (it went Airborne!). May I suggest: 1. Longer double-eye springs with a shackle on the end. 2. A slightly...

    Bolted together utility trailer frame

The tub was built by a company on the east coast called "Diamond Deluxe". They build hunting dog boxes among other things. It's one of the best things I've done with my trailer. http://www.diamonddeluxe.com/

    Bolted together utility trailer frame

I started out with a little 4' HF type trailer and went from there.

    Bolted together utility trailer frame

Start with a 4x8' Harbor Freight NONFOLDING trailer frame and modify/reinforce to suit your needs. It will make it much easier to get a tag. Check this out: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f27/mini-harbor-freight-type-trailer-ultimate-build-up-thread-1180456/ If you go to post #459 in the...

Trailer width - Building from utility trailer?

Need more info; what size trailer are you looking at to begin with? How much are you wanting/willing to spend? What size tires are you wanting to match? Chances are if you're looking to add matching tires (and I'm assuming matching wheels) you'll be needing a new trailer axle as your Jeep has...

Expedition trailer or stick to the jeep.

Here's a simple test. Get a 100lb bag of whatever. Put it up on your shoulders and walk around the block with it. Then put that 100lb sack into one of your kid's wagons and pull it around the block. Which was easier for you? I'm betting using the wagon. Same with your vehicle and carrying...

    Trailer questions

Usually the slipper springs are very short and stiff. Suggest going to a longer, lighter double-eye spring with a shackle at the back end.

My little Harbor Freight trailer build

I had some 205/75/15" tires with 5" wide rims on my little trailer. However, I wanted to increase the track width since it was getting taller. And I didn't want to have to buy a new axle. So I bought some 15x7" Bassett racing rims (DOT approved rims) with a 3" back spacing from Summit Racing...

    Overland TJ's (Ideas, Pic's, etc for 97-06 Jeep TJ's)

Here you go - a primer on building and especially modifying a little Harbor Freight type trailer. There's only so much room in a TJ, but a little trailer greatly expands on what you can take on your adventures. And the little things sometimes makes a huge difference. Camping and roughing it...

    Have you transformed your jeep

No matter what you do, the first thing you want to do is make sure it is safe. Brakes as good as they can be and system doesn't leak? If it's so old they've got 9" brakes, at least upgrade to 11" drums. Steering secure? Linkage tight? Suspension secure and not ready to fall off? Wheel...

what do jeep guys like as a truck?

Yes; an extended cab. Wrong verbage on my part. An extended cab; preferably one with the suicide doors. That new Dodge 2015 Rebel 4x4 would also be sweet (I'd drive it).

what do jeep guys like as a truck?

A second generation Dodge Ram crew cab 4x4. Preferably 96 or newer (that's when they started with the OBD II). You get a small-block V8, solid axles front and rear, and a simple 2" lift front and rear will easily clear 33" tires. Mine's not a crew-cab, but my buddy and I are loading it up...

The Jeep Expeditions Home Built Trailer

Looking forward to following your aluminum diamond-plate trailer build. Especially the tub. My trailer box was $860 plus about $100 to ship (and from the same company that's building yours). http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f27/mini-harbor-freight-type-trailer-ultimate-build-up-thread-1180456/

(and yet another) Mini Harbor Freight Trailer build

It is amazing what all you can do with one of these little HF 4' trailers, and how much "stuff" you can haul with them. Love the military tub look.

Axle U-bolts Grade 2? Keep or ditch?

Check here for U-bolts (and other trailer suspension type stuff): http://www.stengelbros.com/U-bolts.htm I too ordered a set from E-trailer that were too long, so ended up having stenglebros custom bend me a set. And here's a post from my trailer build showing my before-and-after pictures...

    Willys CJ3a Build!

I've got the interlock thing removed from my transfer case and find 2-wheel low comes in very handy at times. Especially when carefully trying to back the Jeep into the garage slowly.

Matching Jeep and trailer wheels and tires

Couple reasons why: 1. If your trailer gets pulled behind more than one vehicle (and they may not match the trailer's bolt pattern or tire size) you would want to have a dedicated spare on the trailer. My trailer's bolt pattern doesn't match my flat fender's wheel bolt pattern or tire size...
