Land Rover Discovery 1 or 2, or Range Rover Classic 1 or 2

The best way to find good Discos is nationwide searching. It could take months for the right truck to show up in your area. It's not too expensive to ship or fly and ride and the problem areas on Discos are pretty straightforward. With the community's help you should feel comfortable buying...

Obvious CL Scam - Anybody recognize this Disco?

Dude that is NICE looking. Best color. How's the underside? Interior? Mileage? Service history? If it's clean and a decent runner, and you can get it for $3k, that would be a pretty good deal. Pull up the rear cargo mat and carpet and check out the floor. That's one of the few big rust spots a...

    Happy b'day to me :-)

After 3 D1s, my 2004 is the only Disco I've had with a working cruise control. Like Dale said, it's the vacuum lines and very easy to do. Go to a parts store and pick up a vacuum line rebuild kit -- they're cheap and easy to fix. Usually it's just the little rubber booties getting old and having...

    Waste of time,or not.

You wanna switch to IFS? Check out the Land Rover section on Pirate4x4.com -- they do these kinds of swaps all the time, and Toy axles are very popular with that crew. Never seen anyone do an IFS swap though, not sure why you'd want to.

    Thoughts on Transplants- 300Tdi vs. 3.9 v8

Only that it looks about as cool as a bag of arseholes. :sombrero:

Post pictures of your Land Rover.

Yeah, we're at 5600 feet so we never see the 100F temps that Tucson (1 hour N) does. Monsoon now so the desert is blooming and it's jaw dropping with the difference cloud formations hovering between the peaks -- and the smell of all that wet earth, oh, goodness. And not a single whiff of...

Land Rover Discovery 1 or 2, or Range Rover Classic 1 or 2

I'm 6'2 190lbs and the D2 definitely feels more cramped than a D1. Dunno if it's the different seats or subtle changes in the cabin but my '95 is way more comfortable than my '04. I don't regret the '04 because it's a great daily driver and significantly more refined but I'm definitely a D1...

    Newbie Intro

Good looking Disco. Looks like you've got a clean one -- those are harder to find. That brushbar is a piece of junk, I'd ditch it. +1 to what Dale said about those alloys -- they used those on the '97 Camel Trophy in Mongolia.

    Thoughts on Transplants- 300Tdi vs. 3.9 v8

Let's not forget the amount of money many "casual" Rover people spend on non-powerplant modifications. Basic F+R lockers, axles, armor, roof rack, winch + bumper, suspension, etc., -- even without going crazy -- and plus labor since we're counting labor on the TDI swap, will see numbers pretty...

    few questions!

Post up some more pictures! Often the best way to get optimum power from an NA diesel is injection pump tuning. Look around and see what other 2.5 guys are doing with their IPs. Usually the first step is basic screw-turning to increase fuel. Congrats on the new truck! Great color.

    So I Want a D2 (Jeep Owner)

http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php?xProd=95914 You can get 'em from 3rd party British vendors here and there. I'm thinking $620 is a typo or a pounds - dollar conversion goof, might try emailing them to get a correct price. They shouldn't be much more than $200.

    Thoughts on Transplants- 300Tdi vs. 3.9 v8

From what I'm gathering here (and from other discussions I've seen or had in the past), and with all things being equal -- i.e. all vehicles on same fuel type at same altitude with the same gallon type -- the diesel application doesn't seem to affect fuel economy as much as the body type and...
